Duelers [BETA R&D TESTING]

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 7:32 pm

Welcome to DUELERS

I am not sure if anyone has done ANYTHING like this before. So, I was putting this up to see if people would be interested. If yes, then the RP will open, and the discussion will close.

What's going down!

The Imperial City Arena welcomes new Pit Dogs!
You, the combatant, would create a person. That person would fight in the Arena, climbing the ladder or dying. You will have to think on your feet, as many different opponents and matches will be thrown at you. You will compete against player-created (but controlled by you), in a variety of matches. As you climb the ladder, you grow more accustomed to killing, and you sharpen your skills. However, the Imperial City Arena is not what it used to be. There will be many different factors in your fighting. Will you become the Champion? Or will you die a Pitdog?

Arena Renovations

- Two kinds of matches: First Blood, and Death. The First Blood will be fought more often, but in big rivalry battles, and in promotion battles, it will be fight to the death.
- Magic-Terrain Editing: New magic breakthroughs can now edit the place you fight. Whether it be on a boat, or in a forest.
- Integration of Monsters: Fight against Zombie Hordes and Goblin Tribes, while facing your opponent!
- Two more teams: In addition to the blue and yellow, the red and green teams will now be implemented.

Accepting Renovation Suggestions!

I will have a list of players, their ranks, and their teams and such, but since it is not the actual RP, It will not go up as of now.

Don't be afraid to tell me it svcks, because I want all the comments possible. If enough are wanting to join, then I'll start the RP up.

Sounds O.K. I'd join it. Will there be some sort of story line?

Also, I think it would be a lot more enjoyable if we could control ourselves during the fight but you pick who lives or dies...

Yeah, are you saying we can't battle for ourselves? That would be awful. I mean, sure you guys can go ahead and choose who wins based on writing, but we have to actually act out the fight scenes. If we didn't then I see no reason to participate in such a plotless RP. So long as I get to fight, sure, I'd go a round or two.

The only problem is, if there was person-based fighting: It would be spitting out one liners. I mean, you could lavish it up, but either way, it would be like bringing back a bowstring, firing it, and then that's it. It's hard to do a long-posting battle between two People. I guess this was harder then I thought. o.o

And no, there wouldn't be a storyline. It's more of where people signed up their favorite custom class and see if it compares to other custom classes in the TES world. That's the idea behind it.

Well I guess you could control the fighting, but down in the bloodworks or wherever, we could control our character's interactions with one another. Just a suggestion.

Before each fight we could even say our battle plans... so whoever has better battle would win, you being the judge of that. EDIT: then after the first half of the match we say our second set of battle plans. So then each fight would only be in two parts and we would still be involved in the outcome.

Maybe just a small amount of storyline? Like the development of rivalry?...

I see the what you all are saying. However, to make this as successful as possible, i'm straying from a traditional RP. Read the new section on the Main Post on: Why this is NOT a traditional Role-Play

I dunno. That requires commitment, which a large percent of the Oblivion Population stray from...
Or, it could show people the RP side of Oblivion...

Hard decision to make, I might implement it. I'll have to sleep over it though.
Thanks for the idea.

Only the Fan Fiction and RPers will even see this, so why even try to attract anyone else? And if they don't want to RP, then they would never even click this topic.

Yeah, just remember that unless you put this in community discussion, no one but RPers will see it. And if you make it no fun at all for RPers, then they won't join. And there is little hope people will join in the CD forum, no matter how easy you make it on them.

Check out the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1012989&hl=in the CD forum, see that no one in that place would join anything close to an RP. They even consider the Werewolf game weird. Sorry, but right now you attract no one :P Trust me, everyone knows the RP side, they just, and I quote, call us "sad".

It would be a decent idea if you made it an RP, let us fight! Thanks.

Hmm...
You make a point. I would completely have to overhaul the entire thing, but it's for the greater good. I'll get working on it.

Thank you, everyone, for the ideas and comments.

Changes made, and overhaul completed. Imperial Arena Renovations in construction and open to the public. Man, I work quickly. Ok, now it should be ready.

Thanks to everyone who helped with this.

With the new overhaul, yes. However, I would choose your opponents (which would not be RP Characters, most of the time). But, yes, you would control your opponent and you. YOU WILL HAVE TO BE FAIR THOUGH.

Pulls back arrow and it flys and kills that guy.

None of that.

Yes! I crave blood! This looks like what I've always wanted an Arena RP to be. Make it big, though, and with sand instead of a stone floor because the old one was totally stupid.

If you were to fight in the actual arena, and not a terrain-generated area, then it would be about 25 meters in diameter, that's about a quarter of a football field. And yes, it would be sandy, so people can grab some sand and chunk it at your face.

Sounds better, but a few more edits seem to be in order. You mention the elites still without telling us who they are. Change one.

If you are going to do that terrain thing (I don't like, but that's your choice) then do at least five.

Also, if you are doing 4 teams, make sure there are four way matches ^_^

All in all, much better. I'll give it a few goes, see how I like it, then maybe commit. Waiting on you now ;)

I've taken the Elite completely out, except there was a small line that I forgot, but I got it.

Er, I guess I could take that terrain thing out. I 'm going to take the pillars out too, because in all the historical arenas I have seen, I have never seen pillars. They are probably there in the game for arrow cover.

And yes, there will be four way matches. But sometimes, it will be like Red v Green match, then Yellow v Blue match, then alternate, then a group match. Something like that, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

If this wasn't just restricted to battles(or the arena for that matter) and players were able to interact with each other in the bloodworks and maybe a tavern then I would join.
