Dumb Things You Do In MW (Because You Think It's Like Real L

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 4:00 am

No, this isn't yet ANOTHER one of those "You Know You Play Too Much Morrowind When..." threads; in fact it's quite the reverse. I'm talking about the things you do in-game that you don't really need to do... but you do them anyway, because that's how things work in The Real World. And I don't necessarily mean roleplaying (although admittedly some examples would come under that category for people who like to do that.)

Here's some of my top 'It's Not Real Life, It's Just A Game!' misdemeanours:

1 - Rest for hours at a time... because it's pouring down with rain. There's nothing I hate more than wandering around outside in the rain, so if I sleep for a bit it might stop and then I can go out...!

2 - Put all my valuable stuff away in drawers and cupboards in my house - well, I don't want to just leave them lying around, what if someone comes in and nicks them?

3 - Close doors behind me in someone's house - I wasn't born in a barn, as my mother always used to say....

4 - Feel very offended when Ordinators call me 'scum' - I might just report them for that! Do they have Superiors I can write to, I mean, they're serving the public, aren't they? They're surely not allowed to say things like that to the general public..!

5 - Dispose of corpses rather than just simply looting them and leaving them - 'cause that would be littering and I don't want to be a litterbug.

6 - Feel slightly guilty when I've got tons of gold and I hear an NPC say "How about sharing the wealth?" (Particularly if I've 'acquired' my 'wealth' through less-than-honest methods!)

7 - Actually, really panic - to the point of apologising at the screen - if an Imperial Guard asks me "where's your uniform?" after I've joined the Imperial Legion and forgotten to change out of my funky glass cuirass (AGAIN) before going into a fort.

8 - Get massively, MASSIVELY creeped out when Caius Cosades asks me to take my clothes off! That's sixual harrassment, surely?!

Anyone else got any similar little rituals?

- I remember I used to have a fear of night, so I never went out during nights and I planned my trips so I would be back in town before nightfall.

- Unless I go out of my way to roleplay an evil character, I never steal from the poor. It just makes me feel guilty.

- Often I find it very difficult to be rude to people. My mother raised me to be polite, so I try not to offend anyone

- I feel guilty when I cheat, so if I do, I donate large amount of money.

I do these things with my canon character, when I replay the game however, all bets are off!

I kind of have a hard time feeling guilty when I kill or steal from people in this game, personally. It's strange because I don't like killing or stealing in Skyrim but I'll do it in Oblivion or Morrowind with no problem.

I think the guy's pretty funny, in an obviously crass sort of way. By the way, if you willingly consented then it's not harrassment. :P

Confession time... the first time this came up in my game, I jumped out of the conversation, legged it out of his front door and loaded up an old savegame. And then avoided going back to redo that bit for, like, aaaages.....!

And I can't imagine ANY circumstance in which I would *willingly* consent to it. I mean... he's not exactly Brad Pitt, is he?

Crassius Curio is the one who asks you to strip, not Caius.

Trying to go shopping like you do in real life finished me off pretty quickly in my first game...

I put books on my bedside table, and set the table for dinner. There are two stools undrerneath it even though no one is ever coming to dinner...

All you Cyrodiil n'wahs look all the same to me!

Morrowind re-triggered my fear of heights. I've flown with Levitation and fallen to my death one too many times.

The sound when you hit the ground is so nasty in Morrowind. *BATCH* (I think it is the same one when you get hit by an enemy)

Relax, the're nightblades! Teaching spells is the only honest work they do. It's interesting how every branch of the Mages Guild has one, considering what Ranis Athrys and Sirilonwe get up to.

But he advances your career so it's okay. For a Hlaalu retainer.

I use to eat all the food I pick up because it was like real life. But now I know that it really does nothing in Morrowind. At least I think it does nothing.
