Oh I only had an issue with the fact you seemed to believe the armor suit idea was plausible, which isn't. I completely agree that seperate shoulder slots are far from confirmed, infact, I'm still leaning to the idea that they aren't

:foodndrink:

Gotta love forums, so easy to miss the fact that you are arguing the same point. Then again I have the same issue in real life, ah well.

I hope clothes will be at least as customizable as in Morrowind again.

What I would love is if you could change the colours of some armor pieces.

I don't know what's most important to me, clothing slots or shoulder slots.. hmm :/ Looking at the screens again, quite a few of the shoulderpads look as if welded with the chestpiece. This would be due to the fact that they are of the same set, and therefore made that way, or it could be that they are now making more chestpieces with simply one shoulder

@Silvade Looks as if you're getting on his nerves xD

I don't see what was "dumbed down" about the armor system from Morrowind to Oblivion. All they did was take away your ability to make small changes in the way your character looked by taking away the precious shoulder slots. I'm sure they will put them in Skyrim again because they took the extra slots out because they thought people would prefer not having to waste their time getting extra pieces of gear that gave little to no protection but instead it enraged everyone that can't stand change. So I'm sure they brought back the extra slots for all the people that complained about them like all the other changes they did to THE PRECIOUSSSSSS. Too many people think that Morrowind was such a golden game and that any deviation from that game is just unacceptable. People have to let go about their first game in the TES series they played. Move on with your life to the better games like Daggerfall and Oblivion and possibly Skyrim.

I know it's probably been said before, but it was a lot more than that. In Morrowind, you had a layered armor system. Plus, nearly everything had a left and right piece (except for greaves and boots because how often do you wear two different shoes or half a pair of pants? Cuirass also didn't have left and right, but the reason for that is obvious). So, I could wear an outfit of clothes, then a suit of armor, and then a robe over everything. Whatever they do, though, for armor that takes up more than one slot, you should be able to enchant it for every slot it takes up. It was ridiculous that mages not only had absolutely no armor, they couldn't even make the robes the wore much better at all.

I would show you my source but then I would violate the TOS of these forums, sorry. Dont worry though you will find out soon enough.

If you can't site your source then take your so called "information" and FO. I'm so sick of people comming to these forums and claiming inside info with no source.

This is just something on my mind - do you think they would dumb down armour slots so instead of Helmet, Greaves, Cuirass, Gauntlets and Boots , and instead of adding more customization to it a la Morrowind, they would dumb it down to a Fallout 3 style with just a helmet and lower body?

no that is fallout the games have always been just 1 slot for the body
also if you look on page 51 the guy getting hit by the sword has 2 different bracers

i think they should bring back pauldrons, seprate gloves, and the ability to wear some cloths under armor sets.
if not they should have specific base cloths meant for wearing under armor sets.
i've said it many times before and i'll say it again, its all about immersion with elder scrolls.
do what you will with fallout, but the elder scrolls should be a masterpiece.

I would really like a return to a more Morrowind style armour.
Left and right gauntlets and pauldrons, the ability to wear clothes under amor and a robe over it.

I loved that, so much fun customizing.

Remember, all multiple means is more than 1.

Previous experience with Beth. statements suggests it is better to assume the lowest possible value and be pleasantly surprised than it is to assume the highest possible value only to be greatly disappointed.

:violin: Two armor slots, wow, they removed the thing that made TES what it is, making one pauldron spikey and one smooth. RUINED!!!!

The fact of the matter is I see so many people that love Morrowind so much sling around "Dumbed down" inappropriately. Dumbing down implies that it has become simpler. Armor didn't become simpler because there was less of it. I don't see how something that was pretty self-explanatory and required no thought can become "dumbed down"

I disagree, oblivion did become simpler because it had less armor options <.<

Less -> not as in depth -> simpler -> dumbed down.

Well, to be fair, you didn't have just the armor in Morrowind.

You did have to choose between boots and shoes. But, you could wear clothes in addition to your armor. Exquisite shirt and pants plus armor, or exquisite shirt and pants plus armor plus exquisite robe... You could do a lot of enchantments in Morrowind. It isn't just the pauldrons.

Considering enchanting skill is back, I believe we will be seeing much more balance. But come on, in order to enchant all your armor to get effects like 100% chamaleon, you had to spend a lot of friggin' money in the altars, and finding all of this money was very hard!

Well, we were talking about MW here, so Enchanting was even A LOT more expensive.

Not to mention how awfully uncommon were the best items to enchant (e.g, ebony/daedric stuff)...

Having looked at the images again I'm beginning to think that pauldrons might actually be back, the image with the guy being killed and falling backwards - that guy certainly seems to be wearing to different types of pauldron. Similarly in the image above the dark elf looks like he's only wearing one pauldron.

We can only hope.

Edit: Plus in quite a few the images the character has no pauldrons at all (could just be the armour type of course)

That's quite clearly no the same armor set. On page 52 picture in the top right? One guy in the distance has two pauldrons the guy closer up has none. But they're not the same type of armor. The guy in the distance has lighter looking armor and it appears to have more detail, I'm guessing it might be steel of some sort. The guy closer up has darker armor than the other guy and it has less detail, looks a lot like a basic iron cuirass he's wearing to me.
That's just speculation

I said the guy on page 51, the one dying has the same armor as the other guy in the upper left, it is kinda hard to tell with that picture though

Can't really be too sure if they're wearing the same armor or not, but it looks a lot like it. You might be right.

You have to watch though. Just because something was daedric didn't automatically make it the best option to enchant.

Bonemold longbow had a lot more enchant points than the only one [possibly two if you chose that reward] daedric longbow in the game [one more bow if you have Tribunal]. Iirc, ebony staff had more points than daedric.
