Dungeons, Raids etc..

Post » Sat Aug 01, 2009 8:05 am

Most MMO's like WoW have things like dungeons and group instances to obtain loot, gold and minerals used throughout the game. What I want to know is will there be a dungeon, instance, raiding system in this to group up with friends and players? War.. War never changes.

Not completely sure what you mean, but isn't it in the nature of MMOs that you would be able to group up simply by meeting in a place, spatially and temporally?

So, are you claiming to be one of the programers? ;)

Or just informing people in advance of the great hospitality that they can expect if you get to build your own civilization niche in the game?

Lol Dave what mmo these days doesnt have some type of dungeon or raid. Thats just the type for the game places like Sierra Modre it only makes sence rofl. If it doesnt use dungeons or raids or whatever then thats going to cutt a huge part of the game out which virtually EVERY mmo their is has them lol Image

Grouping and PvE content in the form of instanced areas is, to put it lightly, pretty common in MMO's. PvP also seem centered around the same type of thinking, so called sandbox PvP. Having said that, I'm sure that Fallout Online want to be as much WoW-with-guns as Fallout 3 wanted to be Oblivion-with-guns. It will be fun and interesting to see what the good folks at gamesas will do with all of the industry standards.

Will there be a tank, healer, ranged and melee dps setup? In most MMO's there always seem to be a need for very defined classes in group play, and for solo play it's the always popular hybrid healer/dps class. Will there be a S.P.E.C.I.A.L version of speccing into a healer or tank or will everyone be able to be a (to use the MMO term) hybrid, with the ability to do damage, take a fair beating and heal themselfs?

Will there be instanced dungeons for groups, and how big groups are we talking about? Will there be scenarios/battlegrounds for PvP? It could get dangerously close to Team Fortress territory here; the sniper, heavy armoured minigun guy, stealth based guy etc. I know we probably wont see classes as we're used to, but to derive a bit from the S.P.E.C.I.A.L system of todays titles you can easily compare or translate it to a spec in most other MMO's.

There is a lot of things that will look a bit different from what most people are used to, i.e WoW and the WoW-like games like LOTRO and WAR. But how different will it be? Reinventing the wheel has proven precarious in the past with AoC for example.

Will there be TAB-targeting or cross hair targeting, will there be just the one attack button (fire weapon) or will there be some form of ability based combat that we haven't seen in the Fallout world so far? Simply taking what most Fallout games are about and translate it to an MMO is rather easy, but it will make little more then a co-op Fallout Tactics game, and honestly, who'd want that!? :D

It's using the Earthrise Engine (or, at least, it was when I last checked on this site) and that game doesn't have ANY kind of instancing. Now, I don't know if that means it doesn't allow for instances or what, but it's a pretty strong possibility. They could change the engine a bit to allow for instancing, but I doubt that they could be a big part of the game that way. But I don't mind, I'm not a super fan of instancing (except in DDO, simply because the game holds a special place in my heart), so I really won't mind if they don't have it. I put the 'Skill' in 'Kill.'
Wait, what?

Earthrise and Fallout are two WAY! different games and have absolutely nothing to do with each other now sure they are using the same engine, but that doesnt mean anything. Earthrise didn't seem like the type of game that would have had instances because of its setting and storyline. Fallout however has DEFINITE potential for this. I suppose though you could be right but i find it hard to believe with all the places in fallout lol.. Image

I just think it'd be cool if like, Some caves were instances and sort of like wow, players progress through for loot and materials. War.. War never changes.

I think they will have plenty of things to do/explore out in the wasteland.... I still remember "The Glow" from Fallout 1, Where the BoS sent you, needed specific item(rope) and hope you had enough rad-away because you see this lovely little message once every 5 or 6 seconds.

'you have recieved a large dose of radiation'
'you have recieved a large dose of radiation'
'you have recieved a large dose of radiation'

Things like that im sure will be plentiful and just as deadly.
