Dungeons will be marked when "completed"

Post » Mon Sep 12, 2011 12:48 am

Nice! :D In Oblivion, I always felt kind of obligated to explore a dungeon as soon as I came across it, since otherwise I'd forget which ones I have and haven't explored on my map.

Sounds good to this guy. It'll make it so when I've completed an area I don't have to back track and make sure I've been through it before, that always irritated me in Oblivion, especially since every damn place looked exactly the same.

Think what you will, but I think it's a nice feature. :tops:

my question is how does the game know when the dungeon is "cleared"? and how does it determine if it is "cleared"? like does it decide it is cleared if all the enemies have been killed? or if all the treasure has been looted? if by treasure then what if i cant carry all the treasure?

The ability to leave a dungeon for later, and know I can get back to it, will be invaluable for me.

I think it's a good idea, whats the dungeon count now, something like 130 isn't it? It's good that we'll be able to keep track of which ones we've completed.

If you can't carry all the treasure and have to leave any behind, it probably won't mark as cleared.

i hope so.

By the time I did 150 dungeons on my 1st character, I'll be more than pleased to give them another go on a different one.
well thats you ,a lot of us like to have a main character which we spent most of our time and for me the real adventure and treasure are in dungeons.

i dont want to collect pelts, food and ingredient forever to make money after i have entered all 150 dungeons.

Morrowind didn't have respawns. And content wasn't randomly generated - therefore dungeons felt as if they had a purpose and I felt that I actually accomplished something. If they do have respawns, I then agree - a more suitable pace would suffice. I remember leaving and entering a dungeon right away in Oblivion, just to come across bandits that weren't there a half a second ago...

Morrowind stuff in chest and boxes were random generated since stuff did not respawn certain items would have been lost forever. Oblivion respawn time is 3 days which reset its timer if you re enter the area before the 3 days timer ended,so you example of dungeons being repopulated in half a second is a big lie.

It's a good idea but I also hope that dungeons and enemies respawn.

I don't mind the "dungeon completed marker" at all. I still make detailed lists of places I've been and completely cleared, so even if all they do is put a mark on the map saying I've been there (like in Oblivion), that's fine.

It's a great feature. I can see it helping with a "Complete all dungeons" type of achievement.

It really doesn't have to have anything to do with mob respawns. If you are 150 hours into the game, you can pretty much guarantee that the first dungeon you ever completed will be respawned. But you can't guarantee that you'd remember going to a specific one. Unless of course the dungeon design is so good that you do remember.

I would just be upset to find a word wall, and then find out that I already activated it.

I would like a "search for location" function. I spent so much time in Oblivion clicking around the map trying to find some dungeon with almost the same name as three other dungeons.

Dungeons still respawn though right?

I believe monsers and such will respawn but treasure won't. same as oblivion Im guessing

I like the complete on the map this way I can discover places and come back knowing I haven't gone in before instead of avoiding places because I didn't want to discover them when I can't go explore because I had to much gear on me

I was hoping it would define "cleared" as "Main Cell(s) visited".... so you know where you've entered, and where you haven't. Personally, I'd prefer a way to manually note dungeons as "Discovered, Entered, and Cleared" as distinct categories.

I think it's a good idea and probably welcomed by most people. However, I would personally prefer such a "cleared" marker not to be present. I wanna remember myself and if I go to a place I've already visited, then so be it. I have no problem going to a place I've visited before - I actually like it.

So... I'll probably mod it out :P

Ah, so parts of http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/26389-2-1249927966.jpg are included too? In a dungeon heavy game that is welcome. I only have limited amuint of memory to spend on games and i'm too lazy to keep notes. An ingame journal you could write to could be another solution, though.

I'd prefer marking the map like that mod instead of the game telling me when I'm done.

I dont like this idea.
First of all the game has no way of knowing if im 'done', it can only tell ive visited.
Even if I kill all inside I might not be 'done'.
Secondly it is gamey and has no place in a game that is supposed to give us a world.

The game may not know if you are done, but it can know if you've killed all enemies in the dungeon, which technically would be a completion of the area. I'm fine with the feature. If you don't like it, it doesn't get in the way of you ignoring it.

Edit: It's understandable that some people enjoy the challenge of cataloging their exploits themselves, but this helps me not waste my time with time consuming logistics. I can immediately move to new content if I like.
