Dunmer and Argonian relations

Post » Wed Feb 09, 2011 10:23 pm

Between Black Marsh and Morrowind, I think it's a matter of politics more than racial tension, though certainly racial tension may result from those involved. Looking at the conditions beforehand, you have a lot of people, of various races, involved in Imperial affairs. They move out of their home provinces and live life by the empire. These people, whether they are Argonian or Dunmer, could sympathize but they've probably haven't been involved enough with their provinces to truly care. Many Argonians were not slaves and worked peacefully with Dark Elves who weren't slave owners. Like it was said above, I think it's a matter of the An-Xileel attacking Morrowind, but not the Argonians as a people attacking the Dunmer as a people.

Also take note that Skyrim happens 160+ years after all of that.

I think that if you get attacked by a Kajiit in Skyrim, you should have the option to throw a ball of yarn to avoid combat.

I thought they licked trees because it made them trip bawls.

I'd go a step further and say you should get a small bonus to Willpower or something if you play a Khajiit and have yarn in your inventory.

An interesting dynamic to be sure. Though, in a hundred and forty years or so, things might have settled. Like a poster above said, it would be interesting to see the attitudes of the Dunmer and Argonians in Skyrim.

Let them rot. Argonians did a good thing.

About the topic, yes, the relation would be chilly.

Khajiits.. Yarn is good but moon sugar is better. A cat can be lured into a cage bound for Morrowind with a pinch of moon sugar.

I take it the Dunmer and Argonians are not on good terms with each other

One thing I wonder about is how the Argonians would be in the habitat of Skyrim. They're reptile people so that probably means they're cold blooded, and might be slowed down in the cold?

We have a few interesting dynamics from Morrowind's fate. Argonians and Dunmer are going to hate each other even more, and we may see a lot more Nords and Orcs fighting/working together. The Nords employed a ton of Orcish mercenaries to help them invade Morrowind, so they probably have a closer relationship due having similar interests.

As far as I'm aware, the An-Xileel are the ones doing the invading with the aid of the Rogue Hist. It's not every Argonian against every Dunmer. I would assume the Argonians who left Black Marsh (those living in Skyrim) might not necessarily agree with the dominant political regime of their homeland. There are probably some Dunmer who have it out for Argonians because of what happened though.

This.

Also, The Nords of Skyrim can't be too upset with the Dunmer refugee's. They allowed them to build a Dunmer city after all. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1163088-skyrim-french-coverage-summary/
I'd wager it's not going to be too different. You'll see quite a few angry Dunmer I will imagine. But you have to remember there were plenty of Dunmer outside of Morrowind when the MoT fell. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be too upset with Argonian's because if they left Morrowind is was probably to get away from all that.

Edit* That being their [censored] bag pro-slave brothers.

to my Nord friends who let us build a city in Skyrim Hurrah Im open up a Mead brewery and give you all 50% discounts and every night between midnight and 2 drinks are free.....argonians however will be subject to regular price if they make a weekly donation to support the families of dunmer affected by the MoT incident and the effort to rebuild the dunmer cities on Vvardenfell in return for said donations they will be offered land and protection from persecution by the dunmer people in order to help encourage positive relations as well as earn 50% off, however those who dont wish to donate or encourage acts of violence wiill not be served and shall not be subject to the protection offered to the peacable customers acts of kindness are rewarded acts of hate and scorn are not lol Im really having to much fun with this stuff....ah

Agree. The Dunmer were nationalistic, racist, overly religious, arrogant and conservative. They'd been preying on the Argonians for centuries - served them right to have their province conquered by them.
It's a shame the Empire lost both provinces though. A non-united Tamriel is an easy target for Akaviri invaders... or dragons.

I never played an Argonian in Oblivion, even though that my first ever ES character (and longest played) was one.

But in Skyrim I will repay the red-eyed Dunmer for the pain they have caused my people.
