I don't like that they all look "evil" now.
I mean, I like the look(Well, for the males, at least...) but I think it's stupid that every single one of them look like they're going to stab you in the gut and then go after the rest of your family to do terrible things. It is just terrible visual design in my opinion.

I like them. They look like Morrowind dunmers. I do not like how some of them look like vampires though.

Yeah, I'm not to fond of their big ass eyebrows, but from the looks of the presets there is at least one with normal eyebrows which gives me hope that we'll be able to make them look a little less pissed off. I just hope they aren't all like that in the game aswell, but seeing as this is Skyrim we might not see too many of them anyways.

They were cursed with their appearance, so I can at least see why their disreputable looks at least fit with the lore.

Actually Azura cursed their Skin and Eyes, their skin got grey and their eyes got red, but beyond that she didn't really curse them to be ugly or anything. Nor would there be any point, imagine if we suddenly got grey skin and red eyes, we wouldn't be happy with that either.

Anyway, I will still play as a Dunmer, I have a backstory, but the whole new evil look doesn't exactly fit him, I just hope I can fix it.

This is the way Dunmer need to look. I was very disappointed with their looks in Oblivion, much more prefer the ones in Morrowind.

Oblivion take you!!! :obliviongate:

But yeah, glad you're in the know now, especially if you want to be a Dunmer. We call ourselves Dunmer amongst our own. Humans and their over simplified views on Mer drive me crazy. :3

Dunmers being ugly and cursed is what makes them badass. I don't want my Dark Elf looking like a pretty boy like they were in Oblivion.

I guess I should probably post what I'll play seeing as I asked people to do that and then forgot to put it myself.

My first character will be a Dunmer rogue basically he'll stick with a bow, daggers, and stealth. I always seem to start and Elder Scroll game with a character like this.

Also did everyone notice how we can change our eyes in Skyrim? We got blind eyes and different shades and styles. Really liking all the stuff we can add to our characters. Nice to finally personalize my character even more.

They looked like someone took a load of blue berries, smashed them up into a paste and squished them all together to make the Dunmer faces in Oblivion. I like how there is more distinctions between the races, in Oblivion you obviously couldn't tell that Bosmer are cannibalistic tribesman, or that Dunmer live near a giant volcano and are dead serious.

They have been cursed by Azura. I think their appearence now correctly reflect that. They are ugly just in regard of our human tastes. Who tell you that the people of Tamriel and the other Mers in particular share the same tastes that us ?

In fact, I don't find them ugly, just a little bit eerie.

You're missing the point, you should be able to play as both, it is very silly to have just one general look.
Imagine if a game was made about Earth and you can play as a white person, black person etc. And all white people always had big smiles on their faces and all black people always looked like they were going to kill you in a few seconds. Would that make any sense? Of course not!

I don't necessarily see their look as "evil," so much as a disgruntled, constantly angry race of people who have a chip on their shoulders. I'm also pretty certain that if you actually spent some time in the character creation utility, that you (anyone) could create a DE with the end result being a little more soft in tone and aggression.

Doesn't help that they took away their ashy voice. I made due with my Dunmer, even though he was blue. (Tried so hard to get him gray)

I'm pretty sure you can make them look less evil. Those are just presets. I will make an old ash lander with war pant but I will not make him look like a vampire ethier. They should look a little evil since they are ruthless and slave owners. hey, and they were cursed.

The Dunmer abolished slavery even before the Argonians attacked Morrowind. and how many times do I need to say that only their skin colour and eyes were cursed? :sadvaultboy:

Dark Elves aren't necessarily evil. You can't even assume slavery is evil in the TES universe, that is only a view based on what we know in our world (and what the Cyrodilic Empire wants you to think).

I think the dunmer look great. Sure, they all look a little angry, and seem just as likely to attack you as they are to talk to you, but that is just kind of how they are. They can be friendly, and have fun, but I don't think they are ever going to be dancing around on tables. As a race, they are very serious and severe people. Perhaps with the exception of infamous female dunmer promiscuity in their younger years, though that could just be a rumor.

So anyway, I think they look great. They definitely fit with the lore, and what we've been shown in Morrowind. Their chain-smoker voices are back. I can not wait to play my favourite race again. I'm thinking dunmer spellsword with a little bit of stealth thrown in. Maybe a Morag Tong refugee.

Wealth without measure, outlanders.

You judge too much based on appearance.

On topic, dunmer is now what dunmer should always be. They look vicious and these red eyes are brutal. I love the new designs.

As I said before, they are ugly (or eerie) from our point of view. Maybe that the people of Tamriel and the other Mers in particular look et them in a different way.

Indoril and Dres most certainly still practice slavery. They now hold what is left of Morrowind.

And I think being cursed by a daedric prince because your leaders were kinslayers and oathbreakers would have a pretty profound effect on racial identity. You wouldn't continue to be happy-go-lucky if your skin suddenly turned ashen and your eyes red.

As a race dunmer live with guilt over what their ancestors did, and its written right on their body. They are defiant of the gods. They are xenophobic and hostile to anyone they don't respect. They believe themselves superior to all others because of the trials they have overcome.

The curse changed them, in more ways than just appearance.

Apparently loads of times. :sadvaultboy:
I dig how they look, though I'd want some of them to not look like they're going to hurt me. :cryvaultboy:
