Daedric invasion + Meteor (Ministry of Truth) + Red Mountain blowing up + Argonian invasion + Nord/Orc Mercenary Invasion = [censored] up Morrowind.

Vivec's Ministry of Truth (the moon Baar Dau) crashed into Vvardenfell with great force, causing Red Mountain to erupt. This destroyed Vvardenfell. The rest of Morrowind is apparently still around. Argonians invaded Morrowind after the destruction. Many Dunmer migrated to Solstheim and Skyrim.

The Ministry of Truth crashed into Vivec City causing massive amounts of damage to the surrounding land as well as setting off the largest Volcano on Nirn, Red Mountain. The eruption of Red Mountain and the crash of the Ministry was so violent that it even caused tsunamis in the Summerset Isles. These events devastated Morrowind and wiped out a good percentage of the population. Then the Argonians, Nords, and Orcs took up the chance to invade a weakened and defenseless nation and committed mass genocide against the Dunmer which drove them north to Solstheim and the furthest reaches of northern Morrowind and into Skyrim. The inner sea is now constantly boiling as a result of Red Mountain's lava flow and Vvardenfell is completely destroyed for the most part. Southern Morrowind has been taken over by the Argonians.

Honestly, I think it's the dumbest thing Bethesda has ever done.

His sudden disappearance caused the Ministry to become unstable. The curators of the Meteor figured out a way to keep it stable by feeding souls into it somehow, but that plan went to [censored] and it crashed down.

Yes, you see Vivec's power was sustained by the number of people who had faith in him. When he disappeared people stopped believing and the ministry began to fall. So they created the ingenium and fed it souls to keep the Ministry afloat, however that failed and set off the entire storyline of The Infernal City.
