Dunwich Borers - What happened here?

That sounds like about how many ghouls I found there as well. And a few times about 5-6 will run at you at the same time. It was a bit unsettling. Yes, I was happy to get out of there too. It was a very creepy area. I was glad to have Preston with me through it. It would have been much creepier alone.

That is one area I switch to my double shot pistol. Any thing else takes too many action points.

I can confirm, at level 120, that you're dealing with Charred Ghouls who are an absolute bastard to deal with. Think something almost as tough as a armored Super Mutant, armor-wise, but with that infernal, jet-jittery skitter-run that Ferals possess.

So glad I'm specced for epic V.A.T.S. fun-time otherwise that place would have been a nightmare. The visions you get as you go through are also a [censored] trip.

I am really regretting giving the blade to Strong, however. I gave the blade of lovecraftian evil to the dimmest, most brutal Companion in my arsenal. Surely this was the dumbest idea of my Fallout career.

Why not just take it back off him then?

Oh my goodness, I just did that dungeon (because that's essentially what it was in the end) tonight, and was so happy to get out of there. Was sent there by a settlement to deal with Raider problems, though the oddest thing that occurred was randomly getting attacked by a BoS Vertibird when I arrived at the mine (I am assuming Preston, who was accompanying me, might have accidentally attacked it). Anyway, went in, killed the named Raider at the "bottom" to complete the quest, read her paranoid log, and decided to push onward. Thank goodness for maxing out Strong Back, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get far at all! That place just kept going... And so many ghouls! I have a combat shotgun added to favorites just for occasions such as that, and VATed the hell out of them. Wish there was more information into those random flashbacks...but certainly was some long-gone cult activity I guess. I did this all at level 41 and didn't have many problems, though the sheer number of ghouls and the darkness began to get to me. XD

Fully agree with this. Just cleared it at level 43 for my first time. Was expecting something much worse and more dangerous at the end. I have Kellog's Pistol fully maxed out and just needed a few head shots in VATS to clear the lot of ghouls. It was a lot easier then expected for sure.

And I don't have any water breathing perks and was able to find the passage and get whats inside.

I just wish the flashbacks were longer! would have loved more back story. Very creepy stuff!
