Duplication, should they bring it back?

Post » Mon Jun 20, 2011 3:25 am

Relax guys....I'm sure there will be Thousands of crazy Dragon Glitchs for us to entertain ourselves with
on youtube several months from the release date.

They don't NEED to revive the Duplication Bug IMO.

Some people haven't heard of what's known as an "Ascended Glitch": A good bug that's so popular it remains in future works as an intentional Feature.

I do have a suspicion that those people may be the developers of the game...

Anyways, it only affects those who use it. If you don't like, don't use it, and DON'T LOOK IT UP! If you are too easily tempted to cheat and hate cheating, don't go searching for cheats.

Except I discovered the glitch independently, both the arrow and the scroll version... Accidentally, of course, and I a) had no idea either existed and B) am not normally the type of person to find that kind of bug that is excessively useful for the gamer.

As Todd says in his one interview about a bug that lets you beat the game really fast, its a feature. Dont want to exclude features from skyrim now do we?!

Kidding aside, i hope it makes a return. Unless housing becomes more affordable at low levels, at which point i wouldnt use it at all. I only ever used it to get a new char a home in the waterfront, and to make copys of my black hood since theres about negative 3 in the game. I mean come on its a plain black hood, it looks awesome, why is there so few?

Duplication is a different way to play the game. Some people don't want to keep making trips to dungeons to carry back all the loot and sell it over and over again. It's just redundant and waste of time after you've been playing for a while. Plus it's optional, as is fast travel and most other decisions.

I really hope they add an easter egg based on the paintbrush bug.

Maybe if you drop a weightless carrot and jump on it, it flies you straight to Alduin?

The dupe glitch was a lot of fun, but i'm POSSITIVE there will be glitches in this game. it's a new system and the game world is huge. heck, at one point there were multiple ways to dupe glitch before shivering isles when they tried to patch it; and i'm still duping my sweet roll tsunami's onto unsuspecting villagers.

Ok, so they don't have to include a bug for duping. But they could be nice and add "Easter eggs" to be found by people that want to dupe. If someone wants to pay $ for a game, they should be allowed to play it as they want (talking mainly single player games). If others don't want to dupe they don't have to use the feature. But just because one player thinks duping wouldn't be fun, doesn't mean other players have to live by that opinion. It would be an option for players to choose to use and would not effect anyone else.

Would be kind of funny to find Dorian hiding in some hole somewhere in Skyrim. When you find him he begs for his life in trade for teaching you an item dupe tactic instead of killing him for unlimited gold.

I use both styles of play depending on my mood. Some days I log on and play straight up while other days I may goof around and dupe for fun.

ITT: Sad people using exploits in a single player game.

What's more sad exploits in a single player game or actually caring how others play their own game, which does not in any way affect you at all? :whistling:

In Oblivion the cool thing about the duplication bug is that it was (incorrectly) at first thought to require firing arrows, and the resulting physics collision resulting in a rain of items was spectacular. I did it just for the fun of it raining miscellaneous items! My favorite is still watermelons!

But to the topic, maybe they could have a Maiq-like Easter Egg mentioning it but as others said they won't intentionally implement a bug.

So would you be opposed to starting out with a dagger that killed anything in one hit and gave you a million gold a second? That helps people and I guess for those of us who don't want to cheat we just don't use it because its optional right?

Sarcasm aside, a bug is a bug and bugs need to be patched.

Some games have invincibility and infinite ammo built into the options menu. It has zero effect on the game for anyone that want to play it normally. One such game was TIE Fighter back in the 1990s, in my opinion one of the best space combat games of all time.

Edit:
Sorry for the double post.

I didn't use it much, but I did like the "permanent enchantments" glitch that resulted from it. The concept of the player being able to permanently bind enchantments to themselves, increasing their resistances and stats, made sense to me. It's a shame we didn't see this implemented in a more natural way.

Edit- I should mention that I only discovered the aforementioned glitch after installing FCOM, a PC mod that makes the game significantly harder. Because of the increased difficulty, enhancing one's stats with the glitch really seemed like natural progression instead of cheating.

I don't care for either, I wouldn't use it until I was tired in the game and just wanted to random things that might be easier with dublication.

I really liked duplicating stuff in Oblivion, anyone know if they are going to bring it back in Skyrim or think they should?

It was a glitch so... no.
