Duplication

Post » Tue Apr 05, 2011 12:16 am

That's not exactly duping though. A member of the guild will go and collect more of what ever Alchemical ingredient is placed inside the chest, which is the first limitation on it (and you won't exactly make much money off of individual ingredients). THe second limitation is that you can only do that one ingredient at a time. The third is she will never ever collect Nirn Roots.

Exactly. Also, if software is released with bugs that they knew about prior to ship date and someone found out they knew they could get into trouble. And yes that includes games.

Unlike 100% chameleon or the ability to change movement while jumping this is not an intended feature.
Its a bug, like floating paintbrushes.

I see no reason to repeat bugs.
As for a spell, no. Id like rare or unique items to be just that, and searching the world map for everything else.

I guess you'd be correct on that. I never really used it that much so it might explain why I don't know how it works. Just trying to save the thread. :P
I can still see duping as a real thing in Elder Scrolls as long as the clone is inferior to the original item in some way whether it be value, defense, or anything of the sort.

Twas no glitch. Twas a very powerful spell, of obscure and ancient origins, one which only the skilled could master/

Actually, no.
The chest magically duplicates things. Julliane Fenis enchanted it.

There is a whole list of things it does not duplicate.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Enchanted_Chest#Detailed_Walkthrough

And there is another limitation. It will only duplicate once a week.

If you really want another however many copies of an item, then go and FIND them.
If it's a unique weapon then (idk if levelled uniques are in or not) get it later and recharge it (if enchanted).
For gold, just run a dungeon or two and sell the loot.

Sure you can cheat & glitch if you want, but it takes away from the game imo.

Eh? I never used it so I naturally assumed she went out and got some for you (whether she harvested it or purchased it) but hearing it's a duping chest... I just lost my respect for the Mage's Guild (not that I had any to begin with)

No glitches. No exploits. No BS. Pure, awesome, perfect gameplay. Nuff said.

What's wrong with having the option to duplicate? I hate collecting alchemical ingredients, so I would like duplicating things. It is game breaking to use it for gold, but only if you choose to use it. Sometimes I don't feel like dungeon crawling for 5 hours to get money, I want it now. If I want to not work for my gold, why shouldn't I be able to?

I really hope this was meant to be sarcastic.

The very concept of an in-lore method of duplicating any object has disastrous consequences. I know Elder scrolls games have had economy issues in the past, but why go out of their way to absolutely destroy it?

Turning an exploit into a feature? I fear I don't see the benefit in this other than having a cheap and unbalanced way to make gold. I'd rather they not devote a spell or item to serve as an intentional cheating device.

I'd rather have my dark and gritty game where the stuff I gain is through some actual effort on my part; but that's just me. ;)

This man is a genius. Why should I have to play the game to get stuff? What the [censored], Bethesda? It's too confusing having to move my character, complete quests, and kill things. I should be able to sit in one place, open a menu, and add all the stuff I want to my inventory. Then I want a big flashing "YOU WIN" across the screen. Picture of Charlie Sheen is optional.

I disagree with this statement. Picture of Charlie Sheen is REQUIRED.

Point well made. Doing stuff is hard....let's use the in-game, unpatched, BS, Tamrielic super-insta-awesome lottery instead!!!

Sadly, chances are dupe won't be in. We will have to work for the stupid gold and whatever. Maybe there will be a new glitch to bypass this!

And stop talking about mods and console commands. Not all of us own a PC.

i think they can make something from that Glitch like a high level Spell you need to be high in mercantile and one of the Magic schools like Alteration or Illusion

Uh...No? No offense, but that's a pretty bad idea. Maybe if you could only duplicate it once/had a cooldown and they can't be unique items but other then that.. Yeah..

Should they Return the Duplication Glitch or make a spell of it ?
Like a Journeyman or Apprentice Spell

I would like if they purposely :whistling: add the actual 'glitch.' (the glitch that allows one to duplicate items by double-clicking on multiple spells and dropping the item one wishes to duplicate). Wouldn't that be a nice easter egg... a glitch?

It was a lot of fun, got to be honest. I had tons of fun building paintbrush and brick staircases up into the sky, and making a thousand watermelons cascade down a mountain....

Actually, maybe they could implement it as a cheat, not a glitch. Beth never has had cheats in the past (I think?) but it would be kinda fun. Games should only patch negative glitches, not fun gameplay glitches. It extends the time you play the game by giving more fun things to do.

They should include it as an easter egg reference to Oblivion. Like they did with M'aiq and his reference to MW.

@The Dark Ghost. Yes, actually TES did have cheats. At least in Morrowind. I'm not sure about Arena and Daggerfall.

Duping's always been in. I'd be surprised if binding and duping weren't in. The ultimate case of "Don't like it, dont use it."

I am for duping, even if I never use it. Binding though, is essential to some of my builds.

Hm... have a game full of glitches? Ima say No.

Hm... a game with a totally broken game mechanic giving you limitless welthfor next to no effort? That'll also be a no from me.

They are neither glitches or game mechanics. They are just 'cheats' put into the game. Every TES has had duping and binding in one way or another.

Duplication glitch was in Morrowind?
How did it work there?
