Dutch cover story: Interesting Info

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 4:45 am

How can you solve puzzles by viewing an item (like a sword) in 3d in the inventory?

Something like in classic Resident Evil's, perhaps?

Hah, the pre-release information inspired doomsaying has begun! *grabs popcorn*

Well... the main quest will be done in a week... So I repeat: 20 hours is not promising at all.

The GI magazine says, "Set two completely different spells in either hand, or put the same spell in both hands."

Either the GI magazine is incorrect, or this Dutch magazine is.

Maybe the Dutch magazine is saying, you can't use two completely different spells at the same exact time like you can with the same spells in both hands. But you can still have two different spells and use them one at a time.

That's the way I'm taking it. You can equip two fireballs to shoot one big fireball, or you can equip one fire and one frost spell and shoot each separately, but you can't combine them into a single fire/frost projectile.

...You know, it just occurred to me as I was typing this that he might not have been talking about equipping spells, but rather creating spells in the spell editor, saying you can't make a single spell with multiple elements, because of the secondary effects elements now have.

And I repeat: MQ =/= majority of the game.

I estimate it will take me 6 months to 1 year to finish it. Been playing Oblivion for a few years and still haven't finished the main quest or found all the locations.

Anybody who seriously thought that the MQ was going to be longer than 20 hours was just kidding themselves.

How long do you want it to be ON TOP of all the sidequests and guild quests?

Well I just thought... does the 20 hours count with fast travel or just walking? It can make a pretty big difference... both immersively and time-wise :D

Thanks for the info, but this :
"Skyrim is approximately as big as Oblivion."
"Low-Fantasy"
"Dragons are not rare."
"Main Story is approximately 20 hours."

bothers me very much.

Re: main quest length, Morrowind and Oblivion's main quests weren't any longer than that. I still had a 900+ hour character over the course of two years in Morrowind, and a 500+ hour charatcer in Oblivion. (Largely due to book and artifact collecting, but still.)

Why is the MQ the most important aspect of the game to you? Traditionally the MQ has been a facet of the TES games and not the focus. They're just continuing in the style of all of the games that have made us fans of the franchise.

I′m not saying the MQ will be done in a week, I′m saying the whole game will be done in a week.
Gotta love the conclusions people jump to.

I jump to them since those conclusions are more likely to happen than not, jumping to conclusions with other games has taught me that, again and again and again, also it′s better to think the worst, at least it hopefully won′t get worse than the worst, and if it′s better then that′s good.

Umm, we know what the Elder Scrolls universe is like. Who cares if someone describes it as "low-fantasy." We already know about it's world, what creatures inhabit it, what rules guide it. This isn't like a complete new series. It's the Elder Scrolls.

Oblivion did not feel as TES as Morrowind.Just because the developer is the same,Oblivion became Elder Scrolls but I honestly see very little connection between those two games other than the races.

Goalie8, were the images in the dutch article the same as these images in Game Informer?

Edit: links removed, sorry

From the way you described them, they sound similar.

I added a description of all the screenshots in the article that seem new to me (First post). Can anyone confirm whether they are new, or whether I've been spending too much time doing other stuff?

Edit: Thanks Iminyourcloset. No new screenshots. Guess that link should be removed.

Even if I was main-lining Four Loko and Red Bull and could stay awake to play continuously for 1 month without stopping, there would not be enough time to finish all the Oblivion quests and find all the locations.

What makes you think that Skyrim will be less detailed and not as deep as Oblivion. There will be 130 freaking dungeons, man!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

Now I've done my share of Oblivion bashing, but I'm still playing and enjoying that game and I have been since release. Same for Morrowind. If you think that you'll be "done" with Skyrim in a week then you aren't playing the TES games right.

It's against the rules to link to scans of a magazine, since it's.. ya'know.. illegal. :whisper:
