Dutch cover story: Interesting Info

Post » Mon May 09, 2011 3:03 pm

I really wished for a unique world, but looks like Morrowind was a "once in a lifetime" experience...That's a shame.

Somehow, I regretfully get the same feeling. But then again I never expected Morrowind 2, I expected Oblivion with improved gameplay and dragons, so to not exceed my expectations they will have to try hard.

What?

The stuff the OP mentioned about frost slowing enemies, and fire persisting on the ground. These might be interfering with their ability to allow multi-element spells.

You sure about that? DLC killed the expansion pack, and got away with it :stare:

Umm, Shivering Isles was DLC.

That's how I would read it as well. My guess, as I can read it in Dutch, is that there are no multi-element spells. It's kind of implicit.

Some people are complaining that too many dungeons will make the map feel cramped because its the same size as oblivion. Now you are saying its not a good thing because less to explore. They can't win either way can they!

Well, for one, I'm not saying that. And yes, they can win either way. Bigger world means less cramped. Quite easy, you see?

"There are special animations for sneak kills with daggers."

Hah, that's good to know they've made daggers useful.

Also, does anyone know the name of the mod the new Archery combat style will be based on? I'd like to check it out. :)

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

Now I've done my share of Oblivion bashing, but I'm still playing and enjoying that game and I have been since release. Same for Morrowind. If you think that you'll be "done" with Skyrim in a week then you aren't playing the TES games right.

I did Oblivion in 1 week with a lot of info on the game having played most of it once before, now I won′t be as informed about Skyrim ofc but from everything I hear it will be smaller than Oblivion, so I don′t think it′s such a long shot that it could be finished in a week by someone who has no info about Skyrim but has played the former games.

I have read many of your posts about the size of Skyrim and about the number of dungeons.

I am quite disappointed that Skyrim will be about the size of Cyrodiil. Here's why, and I have stated this in another topic of mine. How are they going to put all the different types of terrain (forest, mountain, snow, ice, canyon, and what looks to be a marshy area) and make Skyrim feel big? Each of these different terrains are going to have to be small if Skyrim is the same size, therefore reducing the feel of the size of the world. Each of these areas are going to have to be small, swiftly transitioning into another type of terrain.

One thing that soothes me is that there are less dungeons than in Oblivion. This will, as others have stated, spread out these location. Also, 130 dungeons makes it ever so likely they will be more unique than Oblivion's 200+ dungeons. And of course, I'm pretty happy with the other pieces of info.

I do not wish for Morrowind 2 as well, but I wished for ELDER SCROLLS 4. Not really Oblivion. ;)

I'd call it an expansion, but technically yes. However Fallout 3's DLCs put together weren't that big. I don't expect that to change.

I feel that low-fantasy suites Skyrim as a region. It should be dark, gritty, and cold with a very Nordic feel. I'm excited to see what dwemer ruins look like in a more realistic setting.

Woaw, after I read this - especially about the 20 hours MQ gameplay - it literally felt like BG reached out a hand, clenched it around my balls, and twisted them around.

If this is not a joke, Bethesda, then I am deeply, deeply, deeply, deeply *as deep as deeper than the deepest depths of Red Mountain* disappointed.

Oblivion was *BIG*. Huge. Gigantic. It is more than big enough for this game, too.

No, Daggerfall was huge. It was about 6000 times bigger than Oblivion. (Not an exagerration, it actually was that much bigger)

Don't know if this is news (it shouldn't be), but in the Todd Howard interview, he states that they will release a free construction kit when the game comes out.

Todd also "hopes that there will be a lot of user generated content." (for the PC-version of the game)

Even though it was a standalone game. Fallout New Vegas was pretty much an expansion to Fallout 3.

Dwemer ruins are a high-fantasy aspect.
It can be dark, gritty and cold with a Nordic feel yet still remain high fantasy.

Low fantasy is pretty much "I've got my sword and armor and also can do magic,so lets play" and everything not going further...

You're disappointed that the main quest is a little longer than Oblivion's? You wanted a shorter main quest?

I'd caution anyone telling themselves "It's Bethesda, they can do no wrong and thus there must be good reasons for X"

I said that to myself for 2 rpg's last year. The godawful "science" killed Mass Effect 2 for me, and Fable 3 was nowhere near what I was hoping for. Developers, even those with good track records, can make bad games (look how many people didn't like Doom 3). They get comfortable, overly confident, etc. If I were working at Bethesda I'd gladly call for a 6 month delay. A larger world, a seamless one, restored skills that are more interesting. Something to give this "Oblivion 2.0" some ambition, some drive that puts it above both the competition and it's predecessors somehow, rather than just trying to fix mistakes made previously like a bland setting and bad animations.

You are aware that the main quests in Morrowind and Oblivion were no longer than that?
