This stuff looks amazing. I know it's gonna be a long wait, but I'll be eagerly waiting for this release. :D

Thanks for the input, everyone!

And here's http://daedricfoundry.wordpress.com/2009/09/10/dwemer-claymore/! (I loved modeling that handle... it looks so awesome.)

You mean... http://modernexploits.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/batman-forever4.jpg :hubbahubba:

My eyes, they bleed with unstaunched blood. I fear I shall never recover.

Something more like http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0f/Augustus_of_Prima_Porta_replica_Rosicrucian_Park_closeup.JPG would be great--and again, with a female version as well. :P The iconography would have to be more Septimified, but they have enough classical resemblance to allow for gods and goddesses of the Nine to show up on a cuirass. That would be *beyond* awesome.

Whoa, that's some sweet armor he's got there. I shall keep all these links in mind when I get to the imperials, everyone. ;)

Nice halberd, you're building these from the original meshes, right?
Keep up the awesome work.

Thanks. I'm using the originals as references, but not actually modifying them. I sort of build the new mesh around the old one.

Really? That's great (though it must take quite a while longer)!
I'm anxious to see the rest of the Dwemer set.

Awesome project and nice that you start out with Dwemer as well. Everything looks great. Guess it's a given but as I haven't seen it mentioned - will it be made for Better Bodies? Also, will you do Keening, Sunder, Wraithguard?

I don't see any point in making it for Better Bodies specifically, because it isn't necassary.
You should make the armors seamless at the jonts, so it'll look fine with BB, but don't have a BB dependency.

The armors in Morrowind don't reveal any skin, so I don't think it's even a problem unless you plan some drastic alterations.

OK. The problem is that vanilla armors do reveal skin when using BB, but if it's fixed for both vanilla and BB by making sure the armors are seamless at the joints it's all good. But why did Reavance make his Better Daedric for BB then?

(Also, it's nice if armor pieces look right not only when worn all together but individually as well.)

Well, my opinion is that the better bodies mod should be "Morrowind compatible." If there's some reason that it can't, I'd change my mind, but as far as I know there's no reason it shouldn't be. I don't like the idea of making a mod that depends on another mod, or looks bad without another mod.

Apart from that, if I made the armor seamless (and I'm not even sure how to do that yet), it would look weird when you're wearing just one piece, like the greaves, instead of both the greaves and boots. I'm pretty sure this is why they combined so many of the armor parts in Oblivion.

I might try to make greaves seamless in the future, but I don't see the point in making any other parts seamless, since they are separate parts.

I'm asking because vanilla Dwemer armor is one of the sets that looks worst when using BB. Don't know much about modeling so I assumed the solution would be to make versions using Better Bodies (as Reavance's Daedric, which looks awesome).

With vanilla armor the joints look crap with BB, because of the sausage shaped ends of the armor pieces.
You only really need to make it seamless at the groin, with the knees and elbows just don't give them rounded sausage ends and it should look fine with vanilla or BB.

Ahh, never thought of that. I guess I'd have to make two versions of the mod for whether or not you have BB installed, but it would only be a simple edit on the problem meshes then.

Would you though? I suppose it would depend on how the Better Body compatible armour (no sausage shaped ends) looked on vanilla bodies. They might look completely fine.

If all the armor pieces fit around the arms and legs without clipping, I would be able to just make one version. At first I was thinking that Morrowind armor unavoidably replaces the corresponding body part when equipped, but if that's not the case, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Well some pauldrons and bracers *do* show skin. Consider the Templar armor, for example. Although I don't remember any problems with the vanilla templar armor and BB--it seems to work just fine.

I have more thoughts on that, but I only care about Imperial armor so I guess I'll wait until then before chiming in.

The templar armor is messed up. Beth forgot to add one of the body parts to it. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4696 I always thought it looked funny, and after seeing that mod it made sense to me.

I know there is still a gap of skin, but it's significantly less.

Yeah, I know that the pauldrons are incomplete--but the Templar armor uses bracers instead of gauntlets, so either way, a lot of arm is showing unless a shirt is worn underneath.

But my main point was that even with the vanilla pauldron and bracers, BB has always been compatible.

From what I've seen, pauldrons taking up the upper arm need to be made to fit BB, and be properly rigged or else they look ugly with BB.
I tend to see holes in the sides and upper arms that look disconnected.

Fixing it would be a bit of a pain considering there're a lot of bones affecting the upper arm area.

The groin and butt area for pants can be just as bad.

Hey if you want you can make a seamless model of one and I'll rig it. I need a break from all the other stuff I'm doing.
Either greaves or a set of pauldrons.

Thanks for the offer, Mannperson! I probably won't have any fancy seamless parts until sometime next year, but I might ask you to rig some normal pieces in the meantime, if you wouldn't mind.

Edit: I've modeled and rigged the cuirass, but it won't appear in-game. It shows up fine in the construction set (in the preview window at least) and in NifScope, but it's invisible in-game. I've checked for flipped normals, and have also brought the exported .nif back into blender; everything seems fine, including the bones, so I'm not sure what's wrong. Lastly, I have checked to see if the model was showing up ten feet below the character (and therefore underground) or something dumb like that, but this is not the case either.

Anybody know what could be wrong?

I've just taken a quick look at it in NifSkope, the only thing I can see wrong is that the Trishape is named cuirass, the morrowind engine looks for specific names for rigged armour peices and body parts IIRC, so it won't recognise it. Try changing it to Tri chest

Edit: just added the word rigged for clarification purposes

Thanks so much, it works fine now!

It's odd, though, that all the other pieces work fine and are also named incorrectly... Do you think I should clean all of their info up anyway, or does it not matter?
