Dwarven Centurion

Post » Thu May 15, 2014 12:03 am

My board and blades battlemage Artemis will be facing for the first time a Dwarven Centurion in the ruins of Btardamz for the "Only Cure" quest. She's bringing Janessa along as her follower. Artemis is Level 20 with 120 magicka and 120 health (stamina not much, she gets it other ways, wearing a stamina ring or blessing of Kynareth or sleep).

Anyway, any tips on defeating the Dwarven Centurion? She's got good perks in fire destruction (not so high, but decent). Will a shield and one handed fire weapon be effective against the centurion or should she do combo fire and blades? Does the Marked for Death work for centurions? What shouts are best to be used in this battle? Is it better to use her Blades heavy armor or will she need the flexibility of her elven light armor? Thanks for sharing your wisdom in battle! :D

Stay away from it, and use long range attacks.

Watch out for its steam breath attack, it can and will ruin your day if it hits.. One strategy I've always had success with is to run up close and circle it while letting loose with melee attacks, to try and avoid getting hit. This also makes it easier to dodge the steam attack.

Take advantage of what cover that you can and used ranged attacks. The centurions can dish out quite a lot of damage if you get up close and personal with them. Storm destruction is the way I usually take them down and good use of any cover available. They are quite slow but are also powerful in their attacks. If you're using fire use the strongest spell you have and unrelenting force shout will help too as a stun while you get a quick fireball in.

Thanks for your early replies. I'm afraid that it will kill my follower, cause followers tend to attack up front rather than stay away. Is it best to go at it alone? Make the follower wait outside? Instead of a followe, can I use flame atronachs instead to distract it? Sorry, am not so sure about these automaton enemies if they react the same way as living or undead ones...

Circle around its feet. They have difficulty fighting enemies that is too close with them.

They will use melee attack at this point and you can block or avoid them. At range it will use breath attack and can be devastating to your character with that stat.

Health and magicka at 120 each seems awfully low for a Level 20 character - you must be putting all of your level-up points into stamina. If you're going to be relying heavily on magic you really need to build up your magicka some, either at future level-ups or through enchanted gear.

Putting that many points into stamina is also a complete waste of time, especially for a spellsword like character.
