Dwarven

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:32 am

I just notice something, why theres a "Dwarven set" if there no dwarvs in game???

If theres elves, orc, "lizards" and "cats", why dont make dwarfs. I want to be a tiny berserker dwarven warrior with an 2h battle-axe and a very heavy armor. u know what i mean, dwarvs are part of the "mitology", they even exist in real world, why not in skyrim?

Could use more subtlety. But for an amateur work it shows promise.

They're actually called Dwemer and are a kind of elf... It is thought that a giant saw them and therefor calling them ''dwarves'' because they were small to him :P

No one knows how they disappeared but somehow they just did... They vanished into thin air!

Dwarves in TES are as large, or larger, than humans and other elves. That's right, dwarves are a type of elf. They're Dwemer, deep elves, and they earned their title from the giants that spotted them in their deep cities. They were dwarves to giants.

The dwarves were all turned to ash LONG ago, thousands of years ago, by powerful magic gone awry. So they no longer exist, and all that remains are their ruins and constructs.

Wow, someone doesn't know about TES dwarves, or in fact the origins of Dwarven folklore at all. Dwarves != short people. Oh, and "mitology"? Did you lie about your age to get on this forum?

They insisted on science rather than magic.

So one of the theories is the gods wiped them out.

They were attempting to create the god Numidium when they disappeared. The popular opinion seems to be that they were all called to become the god's golden skin.

Yagrum Bagarn, the last living dwarf that you meet in Morrowind, did not vanish because he was in another dimension at the time.

vanishing of the dwarfs (prequel) or return of the dwarfs would also be a cool spin off :-)

Ugh. That is ridiculous. You can't redefine a basic term like dwarf.

Giant? That's just a regular guy, and how tall he looks compared to a chicken.

Dragon? That's just what we call people with red hair.

Yes, they can.

Easily, actually. In fact, they just did it. And there's nothing you can do to stop them, because there is no defined term for dwarf.

Sure, Tolkien and those who copied them made them hardy, drunk, stereotypical, short [censored]s that live underground, dig holes, and do [censored] like that. Bethesda decided to not copy everybody else and made their dwarves creative and original.

For that, I commend them. There's nothing worse than exact clones of other fantasy worlds.

It's all perspective.

Edit: Plus, they identify as Dwemer.

Actually the "dwarves" of Germanic mythology, where their basis lies, were a type of elf (alfar). They were known as svartalfar (black elves) or dokkalfar (dark elves) so TES got it right on that count.

They are all dead, but they are such good craftsmen (well elves) that what they built lasts for years if not ever.

Norse Dwarfs are believed to been human size pre-13th century (that the only time it starts being said that they are short anyway).

Apart from that it just they where master Smith also they DIDN'T live underground. It was a Race of ELVES that lived underground.

The real question is this: how are we finding dwarven gauntlets, boots, swords, and arrows if they had steam power and robots?

Because they wore armor and had weapons too. I'm not really sure how that's related.
