dwarves, imperials

I agree with Astion. Don't dismiss the Sermons because they came from the temple. Not everything the temple says is untrue. Vivec does make a mess of explaining things, but that's what makes the guy so cool/creepy.

To be perfectly honest, I trust Vivec more than King Herod*cough*Helseth. At least Vivec doesn't try to play down his betrayal of Nerevar to your face, like Helseth does about sending the DB to kill ya'. Anyway. Back to the sermons.

You guys have all heard of the monkey truth, right? Well, think of the sermons as the "retro-active truth". These things may or may not have happened, but after the ascension of the Tribunal, they might as well have. As a matter of fact they did. Oh, they didn't? Well, here... *poof* Now they did. <-- if anybody understood that, I'll give them a cookie.

I get it but the "Gods" of the tribunal don't even have the power to change the weather so I doubt they could poof very well.Stendarr is a real god, well...

P.s. Where is my damn cookie?

Dwarves and Imperials both live(d) on Tamriel. Other than that you're comparing apples to a freight train conductor. Dwemer were psuedoatheistic craftsmer who were tall with funky beards and have a rust fetish, versus the Imperials who are imperialistic, white, men.

I'm not quite sure of what you're asking secondly. Do you mean what races inhabit Akavir?

Rust fetish? What are they salad fingers? Also I saw the music video that guy in your avatar is in, the music sounds like Dremora during mating season.

No seriously, I don't know if you've ever heard a Dremora speak, but it sounds like death metal.

on topic: There was some book I remember from Morrowind about Dwemer influence on culture or something along those lines, but the library is yielding no results so far. Help?

We seem to have derailed the thread quite badly. I've sent the OP a PM to apologise and answer his questions and refer him to a couple of books, but perhaps we should take our discussions someplace else?

on topic: There was some book I remember from Morrowind about Dwemer influence on culture or something along those lines, but the library is yielding no results so far. Help?

Right. Brian, I think you might be thinking of either http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/dwemer_law.shtml or http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/nchuleft.shtml. The former seems to propose that Altmer culture had an effect on Dwemer legal systems, so the shoe is on the other foot. The latter was probably written by an Altmer scholar, which might signify some "influence". But it's more likely you're talking about Antecedents.

EDIT:

Naah, he's just mad. Schizophrenic and paranoid.

A madman does not orchestrate Hogithum Hall. A madman does not render gods powerless. A madman could not build the Provisional House or pass through the Triangular Gate and achieve CHIM. Vehk was a true god among mortals, and that he showed us how to become gods ourselves is his truest gift of love to us.

I say again: to dismiss the Sermons as nonsense is folly. I will say nothing more. My signature will speak for me.

I get it but the "Gods" of the tribunal don't even have the power to change the weather so I doubt they could poof very well.Stendarr is a real god, well...

Then you have a very warped idea of what it means to be a god.

And why couldn't a madman do that?

Ah, yes, many thanks, Astion, that was bugging me.

Why do you think he is mad?

That's kind of like asking why the Inuit are mad.

Vivec is the only sane person in Tamriel. He knows the exact nature on both himself and his universe. Does any of the 'sane' people know this. Do you? He is at that the opposite of insane. Past normal saneness into super saneness.

Point taken.

No they're not.

The Dwemer and all other Mer share a common ancestor in the Aldmer. They have no such relation with the Imperials. At least not until they both also share a common ancestor with the trees.

The Cyrodils(Imperials) are about as related to the Dwemer as they are related to the Dunmer or any of the other Mer. There is no special racial connection to them. The largest connection I can think of is that Tiber Septim used Numidium to conquer Tamriel and set up the Empire. That is the most important connection, and any beyond that so far as we know is just trivial and unimportant.

Dwarves are called Dwemer. They are mer folk, meaning the are elves. They are not drunk beards that live underground. And lastly, they're gone, completely. They absorbicide themselves into the Numidium
