no dwarves?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:14 am

Aldmeri + Velothi = Dwemer. get it?

Aldmeri = Ancestors of all Mer.

They descended from the Ehlnofey.

So yeah, they are elves.

They dissapeared at Dagoth Ur during the War of the Red Mountain. (i.e. 1E 700).

Which game? Morrowind?
You think I would have picked up on that...

Yeah. Especially when you used three Dwemer artifacts in a Dwemer fortress so a Dwemer robot wouldn't come to life and start trampling all the Dwemer ruins and everything else.

From when is Morrowind the last game?

Assuming you meant "since when:"

Since no one cared about Shadowkey.

Yes. They all died. In Morrowind there are many Dwarven mines, many don't reveal much, but the Dwarf spirits linger all over the place so it's suggested they created machines that let to their own destruction.

I think this is true, as their ruins are inhabited by all kinds of strange killing machines. (Kind of like a post-terminator type thing).

There is also one remaining dwarf you get to meet during the main quest in Morrowind. He's obese, and has no legs. (Rather he has machine legs.) He is also a carrier of a horrible disease called corpus.

While the Dwarfs all died, their weapons and armor remained behind.

Some has traveled to Cryodill.

That explain it?

All Dwemer artifacts were declared the property of the Emperor so that the East Empire Company could have a trade monopoly. So their being imported in huge quantities, both legally and by smugglers who send them right to the warlords hiding in the forts.

Firstly , They're are dwemers , Not dwarves.

The nickname "Dwarf" is synomonous with Dwemer. If I remember correctly, they got that name from the Giants who lived long ago.

arent dwemers elves?

Yes, they're called Gray Elves I believe.

'Dwemer' is variously understood to mean 'deep folk' or sometimes 'smart folk'. They were just as tall as the other races, from what you can see in their ruins.

They all disappeared after the Battle of Red Mountain between the Chimer/Dwemer alliance and Nords, after Kegranac (the bossman) used profane tools to try and achieve apotheosis to make either themselves gods, or make themselves an artificial god. Where to, who knows. Vivec says he does not detect them in any 'godly' sense, so their plan appears to have backfired rather badly.

In Mournhold they appear to have been toasted, given the quantities of ashen remains in their ruined city.

For Pete's Sake the giant thing was a dev joke.

'Dwarf' can describe more than size, although it would be strange to attribute it to their intellect or other aspects, especially since Dwemer means 'deep elves.'

Yeah, there are no dwarves because they were all either zapped to oblivion, destroyed in some way or just disappeared. The name "Dwemer" means deep/smart/small folk/ones/elves.

Dwarves are Elves? who came up with that absurdity. I'd like to think they are still around hiding deep underground somewhere mining for treasures and building a great dwarven hall, that would be cool to find the ruins of a dwarven city underground while dungeon diving.

Who else? Bethesda did.

It's too late though. There were never any of your loveable D&D dwarves in TES. Some of their characteristics went to the Nords. Make a midget.

idk if this question has come up yet or not, but ive been dying to know the answer since i started playing this wonderful game. why is there dwarven armor, but there are no dwarves in the game? and why isnt being a dwarf one of the choices you can make when choosing a race? i think it would be sweet to be a dwarf.

play morrowind and you will see, yes you will see

Okay the point about this, such as stated Dwarves or I prefer Dwemer are not Tolkien or Warcraft Dwarves, trough there are certain things that they have in common (like there tech-likeness), it stops there ... This so-called Dwemer are a stock of more or less Elves who look have more references to pointy ears Mespotamians than they have with Tolkien Dwarves... Otherwsie I recommend you to play the older TES games much likely Morrowind wich is setted on the old Dwemer Home Nation. I'ff there is a going to be a tes game wich features Dwemer it must likely will be set in the First Age when they Ayleid did rule Tamriel, and I most likely doubt it (playing a human character should be far difficult in that area)

there is a kinda cool semi-appearance of the Dwemer in oblivion, they are more or less mentioned. There is a quest called shadow over hackdirt, involving some underground dwelling creatures refered to as The Deep Ones which is so close to Deep folk, which is the translation of dwemer. It is an interesting quest, and the Bible of the deep ones from the chapel was an interesting trophey, though to me that was the only worthwile reward hehe

That is a reference to a book from H.P Lovecraft and has nothing do with Dwarves or Dwemer for so far I know ... just a easter egg not lore - related

Is Yagrum still alive in the time of the Oblivion Crisis? His book is present in the game.

Unless the Nerevarine offed him, I'm assuming Yagrum is still alive. He has lived for hundreds and hundreds of years already due to his coprus.
