Dwemer are complete morons

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 2:02 pm

They're just called Dwarves because that's what the giants of Skyrim called them.
They are, if anything, a tad bit shorter than Wood Elves.

On topic, they were at war with both the Falmer [inside their cities] and the Dunmer[outside their cities] at the time of their disappearance, it makes sense they would fill their cities with traps. To prevent the Falmer from below and the Dunmer from above from coming in.

It would be especially effective on Falmer because well...they are blind. They wouldn't know what hit them.

You do realize that at the time of dwemers disappearing, falmers could see and were just like any other race, most like a combination of wood elf and altmer.
Well at least at some point they were normal. :D

You know, I've always found it sad that such an intelligent and advanced race would just disappear the way they did. I'd imagine they succumbed to their own devices in the end, but nobody is really sure.

They disappeared because some of their most brilliant minds (engineers) created the brass god and tried to anti-create the dwemer race back to the divines (basically making them all gods, or something along those lines). The attempt of activating it made all (but one) dwemers disappear from the world, leaving their armors empty where they had once stood.

The Falmer went blind after being driven underground and stuck there for so many years after the Nords pushed them there. Then the Dwemer betrayed them.

I thought the Falmer were enslaved by the Dwemer and made blind so that they wouldn't rebel.

It says in some of the books you can find in Dwemer ruins that the Falmer were deliberately weakened and mutated by the Dwemer to make them more submissive as workers. The Dwemer are responsible for their current form.

They were already blinded at the time of the rebellion

There is not one race in TES lore that hasn't done something despicable. The Dwemer that enslaved the Falmer do not represent the Dwemer race. Don't forget that.

I heard about the betrayal the dwemer did against the falmer. All in-game things I've ready have pointed towards the falmer becoming the "monsters" they are today because of the dwemer betrayal.

I stand corrected then, by four different sources. :D I assumed the falmer went blind because their exile in the darkness and not because the dwemer made them their slaves. Guess the dwemers were more evil than I thought!

Just saying the Dwemer were about the size of Bosmer. The ghosts in Morrowind weren't tall, but they were definitely not like classical Dwarves. Also they are the Elf race closest to man because you mainly hear about them warring with other elves. From the sounds of it they didn't bother fighting humans unless the humans attacked first.

They were some pretty evil bastards.

From challenging and pissing off kind Daedric princes such as Azura, to building a god of their own just so they could conquers and possibly enslave all of Tamriel.

The first step in defeating a trap is knowing of it's existence.

If you know it's there, you can avoid it. However, those pesky in-laws?

Simple.

Create traps the in-laws don't know about. :celebration:

OT: It does seem pretty silly at first to load your living quarters with all manner of blades, but I agree with the Dwarf Fortress comment.

to see what they look like go into the Corpserium in Morrowind or google it. He's the last known dwemer alive and is immortal because of the corpse disease. In fact its only half is body but you can get a decent picture from there

I could imagine a note or message being passed around the cities regarding the war with the Falmer telling everyone to stay inside their rooms and food and other accommodations be sent regularly through the pneumatic tube system they seem to have set up. Also, places like Blackreach don't have many traps around them and it seemed very residential, whereas the factories were higher up.

Think one of the in game books says they prefered to live as deep in the ground as they could and that the bits closest to the surface wernt used as much by them which explains why blackreach doesnt have as many traps.

Dwemer ruins didn't have that many traps in morrowind as far as I remember, apart from the occasional trapped door.

Haven't found a dwemer ruin in skyrim yet, and I am not looking forward to it. My friend says they are too large and a pain to explore.

They are massive. I both like and dislike them as its nice to be in a none nord dungeon but they do take a while to go though

Morrowind's plot is pretty closely related to the disappearance of the dwemer. The story of their disappearance is pretty well documented here http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dwemer

Reading that will make you more informed about the dwemer than most characters in TES lore. The game is supposed to be like real life.. events happened..but scholars still debate what actually happened. So if you wanna go on role playing...try and learn about the dwemer through in game books and piece it together for yourself

*edit*
but if you wanna meta game and just know the freaking answers like me some times....go read the article

Dwemer ruins are the greatest dungeons. Ever.

Trust me, they're incredibly fun to explore. The constant noise, motion, knowledge that you could be attacked from anywhere at anytime, and all the traps make them incredible.
