Dwemer Art - The Alik'r Desert


This is first announcement thread on official forums. "Dwemer Art - The Alik'r Desert" is big fan-made addon for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. It adds a part of Hammerfell province - the great Alik'r Desert with two major cities of this region - Bergama and Alik'r. Our desert is fully open for exploration and contains many caves, tombs, ruins, beautiful views et cetera, et cetera... But be careful: it's a very dangerous place. Deadly creatures, disease, quicksands, sandstorms - all of this waits for unlucky heroes to kill them.

But the main danger of this region are old dwemer cities and their machines. We recreated dwemer sets of dungeons, multiple mechanisms and robots from Morrowind, and created some of our own! There are many items you can find in dwarven ruins: armor, weapons, miscellaneous bowls, knifes, folks etc., scientific stuff like circuits, magnifiers and many others.

Yet, a mystic thing happened to the dwemer cities. After the Oblivion Crisis they became more mesmerizing than ever before. Anomalies, strange glows over and over... What happened? Only you can find the answer. And (of couse) only you can help the Redguard nation.


A Small FAQ:
Q: What is the approximate size of the desert?
A: I believe it's 1/4 of Cyrodiil, 4x of Shivering Isles. But it's all about the feeling.

Q: Is it possible to travel to the desert from the Border of Cyrodiil?
A: No. It has it's own worldspace. And at first, you won't be able to come back to the the Imperial province for a while.

Q: How Oblivion Crisis affected the events in the mod? Will Oblivion Gates open in the Alik'r Desert?
A: It definitely brought strange things to dwemer ruins. There are a few gates in the desert, but unlike the ones in vanilla Oblivion. Alik'r is not so important to Mehrune, and there no point in opening gates here. But you can explore Peryte plane, for example.

Q: What else?
A: Full actor voicing, new awesome music from two our composers.
It’s worth mentioning, that dwemer centurions are robots, and robots tend to fall apart when they are destroyed. Exploding centurion spheres, hands and heads falling apart…

Q: When will I be able to get my hands on it?
A: When it's done I wanna try to divide the mod to parts and release the first package in September. Just like Iliana's Anequina. Though it is almost complete now, so if you didn't know that it's only the first part, you would have thought that you possess the full mod. Unfortunately, the mod will be released in Russian first, but no worries, we have a team of translators, so if you are willing to play the mod in English - you will have to wait a few more weeks (lots of material and dialogues to translate; the voiceover will be in Russian)

The dwemer ruins in there are very nice.
