I hope so. Oblivion was boring with only caves and Ayleid ruins.

The Eastern border of Skyrim is shared with Morrowind, and its known that there were border issues for a long time. I wouldn't expect to see a lot of ruins in the West, but apparently there are some. I'm pretty stoked about it, to be honest - I love all things Dwemer, so I'm glad to see their ruins are going to be in Skyrim as well.

No. Don't ever solve the mystery of the Dwemer Bethesda. It's one of the great mysterious things in Elder Scrolls and is really fun to bounce ideas off other people. But I am really, REALLY happy that Dwemer ruins are making a return and I don't mind the mix with the stone ruins either. :goodjob:

I would hope not, otherwise it will severely screw up lore. The only Dwemer to have survived was Yagrum Bagarn, and only because he was "off planet" at the time. The rest either disappeared entirely (Morrowind), or ended up as ash piles (Tribunal).

What would be an interesting find is a more complete ruin, with signs of an ancient city - not the small, shallow strongholds of Morrowind. I want to see Dwemer residential and commercial areas, not just research areas - and a tomb or two would be nice.

I'm pretty excited about this, myself. It's been pretty much confirmed since the GameInformer magazine was shipped out. You see a character, in full Dwemer armor, standing inside of, what looks like, a Dwemer ruin.

Hopefully in Elder Scrolls VI Daedric ruins will return. I always liked them for some reason. Hell, maybe they'll return in Skyrim, even though I'm sure there's something in lore that makes that impossible.

I dunno how to add in a spoiler box but dwemer spoiler alert:

"This uneasy peace, though, came to an end over the Dwemer God Numidium and the construction of the Heart of Lorkhan by Dwemer Tonal Architect Kagrenac, and the result was The War of the First Council in 1E 668-1E 700. The war climixed at Red Mountain, the Dwemer main fortress, and ended abruptly when Kagrenac used the Heart and all Dwemer perished in an instant. "

(I thought Dwemer ruins existed only in Morrowind)

The Dwemer settled all over Tamriel, but so far, in-game we've only seen them in Vvardenfell and one in Stros M'kai.

I'm really excited about the Dwemer ruins coming back, and I hope we get a tiny bit more insight into their lifestyles and technology. They're one of my all-time favorite things about The Elder Scrolls series. I don't want the mystery to be solved, but I want a few more puzzle pieces. ;) Maybe one day!

I hope so or maybe even Falmer ruins (snow elves), Oblivion's ruins/dungeons were so boring and repetitive after a while.

Yes, but we don't know where they went. Are they hiding underground? did they travel to a new realm? are they simply dead?

Perish:
to die or be destroyed through violence, privation, etc

The more I think about it, the more I want to see the centurions again but with updated graphics. I reinstalled morrowind once just so I could go to a Dwemer ruin and hang out with my steam powered pals.

Hooray, I'm happy they're in again. Hopefully we'll just get more and more clues.

It would be so badowl if for one Elder Scrolls game they made it about the return of the Dwarves, who are hellbent again on domination of Tamriel. I can always dream!

ETA: I've always considered their disappearance to be more like 'svcked into a black hole' than to all suddenly die. I love how Bethesda didn't follow the generic interpretation of the Dwarves...making them tall and evil. Woo!

Are there any Ayleid Ruins in Skyrim? I loved those ruins in Oblivion, with their distinctive colors and traps.

I don't know how far the Ayleids conquered, did they take parts of Skyrim?

If so, I would love if we get just one Ayleid Ruin.

Oh, and I look forward to explore Dwemer Ruins again! :)

I remember there was a dwemer mech in the ruins underneath mournhold. Seeing one of those as a working enemy (or ally) in game would be really scary (scary in the same way in which the Imperfect in the clockwork city seemed to just run towards me upon entering the room and then shoot a massive ball of lightning).

I hope there are more dungeon styles than Oblivion. I am pretty sure the following have been confirmed.

-Dwemer ruins
-Ice caves
-Nordic ruins

If we also get

-Forts
-Caves
-Mines
-Falmer ruins (would probably be very rare)

then that would be much better than Oblivion.

Also, glad they haven't totally changed the Dwemer style, there are still influences remaining.

The legend says there was only 1 guy doing all of the Oblivion's dungeons. Now there are 8.

There are also fewer I think, which contributes to create more unique ones. I prefer it that way. I've played Oblivion since release and I'm sure I haven't seen about 40% of all the dungeons it has, out of lack of interest.

I'd definitely say the image in question is a Dwemer ruin. Admitably, it's not identical to Morrowind's Dwemer ruins, but I didn't expect it to be, and with all those pipes and that steam, I can't see what else it could be. It has also generally been assumed that the Markarth screenshot is one of the cities built into Dwemer ruins we've heard about, and the style of that picture definitely looks like it could be what those structures might look like on the inside, so I can believe that. Also, we can expect to see centurion spheres in Skyrim, as one of them shows up in the Sounds of Skyrim video where the person in it is demonstrating a sound that is being used for them.

In any case, it definitely looks like dungeons will be more interesting than Oblivion this time around, really, all environments promise to be better from what I've seen.

There has been one living Dwemer in the Elder Scrolls series so far and as far as we know, he is the last one left, and he was http://images.uesp.net//d/d2/MW-creature-Yagrum_Bagarn.jpg Aside from that, in Tribunal, the player encounters one Dwemer ghost who can speak to the player, he looks http://images.uesp.net//c/c0/TR_Creature_RadacStungnthumz.jpg.

Looks like a dwemer ruin to me, especially with all those pipes and stuff.

But seriously. The mystery of the dwemer should always remain a mystery.
Perhaps a few hints and theories (like in Morrowind) here and there, but it should never be solved.
