Dwemer in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:54 am

Forgive me if this question has been asked, or if it's blatantly obvious in the backlore of the series, but I was curious as to any role the Dwemer might have played in the history of Skyrim? Will we find Dwemer structures and leavings scattered throughout the landscape? Because I'd really like to dig deeper into the Dwemer sociological complex that the developers of the series have created over the years, and Skyrim would be the perfect setting to do it in.

Maybe they make a comeback after having gone and disappeared for 100s of years.

Maybe the dwemers are the dragons! :)

Some dwarves lived in the Velothi Mountains, which separates Morrowind from Skyrim. It is entirely possible to run into some of their ruins.

The Dwemer are the golden skin of Numidium.

Great! I always liked having them in MW...detested the dull, blah, nothing to see here move along elvish ruins of OB. And running into that guy in the basemant of a Televani tower (?) was awsome..like a living piece of hisotry he was!

Besides, then I can get a gun

I think they were very interesting, as far as an 'extinct' race of beings go, and really think everyone could use another dose of that Dwemer love.

Skyrim is sure to be rich in history for things beyond the dwemer, thanks to all this talk about Akaviri, Falmer, Imperial colonization, skirmishes with Morrowind, High Rock, and Hammerfell, multiple colonizations from Atmora, Were-creatures, and finally the dang dragons. I think they can be relegated to a very minor role.

'Sides, it seems with all this Dwemer love that Beth would do them more justice by giving them prominence later on. Perhaps in a steampunk spinoff?

I just read on UESP that: "Their ruins and artifacts are scattered across Tamriel, specifically within Hammerfell (mainly in the mountains of Stros M'Kai), High Rock, and Morrowind." High Rock is very close to Skyrim. The Nords were the Dwemer's worst enemies I think.
It also said on UESP: "Or the Dwemer portrayed in the most ancient Nord sagas: fearsome warriors, tainted by blasphemous religious practices, who used their profane mechanisms to drive the Nords from Morrowind."

It's possible that there would be a few ruins and stuff like that near the border to High Rock.

I think the story of them vanishing is a perfect ticking time-bomb to be unleashed on Tamriel when things get quiet.

Well, they'll be back, and they're still here as the Numidium. Go to summerset, and you will learn the altmer have continued to battle against the Numidium in their homeland at many different points in time.

One of the creepiest things anyone has ever said in any game.

Anyway, having dwarves around would definitely do a lot to connect TES V with TES III in our heads, which is always a good thing.

I miss the dwemer.

Probably didn't mean it as far as I am about to take it, but I think missing the dwemer is better than exposing their privates in burlesque fashion to try and milk more interest out of the game.
Just a general note.

I wish they were the ones coming back but I think it's referring to the dragons. I'd wear socks with sand int hem for at least 20 mins for some new Dwemer gear.

Yea probably dragons and Akvari but it'd still be awesome. Flying ships pouring out of oblivion type gates.
