Nazz, if you read my first post, I never said the Dwemer could come back (because they are not them anymore, they are an it). So... yeah. I apologize for the confusing wording. On reading it a second time, it does seem to imply that the Dwemer are separate entities living inside the Anumidum like so many ants in a hill, since the opposite of dead is alive. I only meant to say that they didn't fail, and though they are not, and can never, ever be the Dwemer again, they didn't vanish into nothingness, or go to Oblivion, or an outer realm where dead people go. Or at least as far as I understand it. That's what I wanted to discuss.
Nalion: Cheer up. Whatever you perceive, I actually am interested in having a fruitful discussion, but find it hard when being accused of stupidity. I have read the thread, and quite a bit about the Dwemer. What suggested otherwise? Anyway, I'll paraphrase my questions, since they have gone unanswered:
a ) What if Yagrum was supposed to 'turn it on,' and he did it successfully?
b ) Could the thing that the Dwemer became have survived being destroyed and rebuilt a couple of times? I'm fairly sure Akulakhan is made of separate parts off of the design of Anumidum, and so it doesn't count for this. But if someone were to find the pieces in Daggerfall of the original, would it still have the Dwemer gumbo in it? Did they become the Prime Gestalt like Daedric souls become weapons and armour, essentially?
c ) Since the gods became Aldmer, and then split off into the different races, wouldn't it take the combined souls of all the races to return to wherever the Dwemer wanted?
I searched the forums for answers to these and didn't find any, so I don't see why you'd tell me I lack knowledge when the only things I don't know are things that have never even been discussed. I'm sure you can be quite agreeable, and I, for my part, don't intend to look ignorant for much longer than I need to. Let's try to get along. We agree that the Dwemer are interesting, so let's talk about them.
