Dwemer Tubes

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:08 am

I think I recall someone providing information as to the use of Dwemer Tubes, but I've forgotten all the circumstances and specifics. Was this TR lore? Monkey Truth? Speculation? Or is there some line of dialog hidden in Morrowind's CS somewhere?

The only thing I remember is a tube appearing under a bed frame in Tribunal. (Make your own conclusions about the implications. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcmrYhDq9ms.)

I dont know about their use as phallic devices, nor as "Butt machines" (Though I am pretty sure the dwemer had considered that prospect in their animunculi...)

But a "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coherer" is used to pick up and amplify electromagnetic radiation.

http://www.freepatentsonline.com/5963169.html

Some of these devices sound vaguely familiar when held up to the description of a dwemer tube coherer.......

I am not saying that is the purpose it was for, but it would explain their prevelence, and would also help to explain why dwemer animunculi "power off" when they get too far away from their ruins of origin.

Anyway, I'm guessing that the tubes are some sort of connector for wires, or something. But I guess some Dwemer found a more...interesting...use for them...

No, less recent than that. Someone mentioned they were used as puzzles or something.

Just shows how much of a human side the dwemer really had....... I find it ironic that people Squick over a simple dwemer tube and some lube, but seem no less the wear for our own perversions, like watching six in the city, or in the thriving [censored] (Rhymes with Bilbo) industry.

Walter:
Some of you people just need to grow up. :P

More than likely electricity goes through those tubes. that seems the most likely use for the tubes. Or steam.

It was mostly a joke, but you make a very compelling point, in both your arguments.

I think it's steam, as the dwemer machines ran on steam power.

The dwemernet is a series of dwemer tubes.

The dwemernet, you see, it's not just some big truck, ok?

on topic, i'd assume the tubes have something to do with conducting electricity or moving steam to power turbines, although such a mundane use wouldnt explain why the leader of the Ald'ruhn Mages Guild wanted to examine one, would it?

I vote for electricity, over here.

If you look on the bottoms of the tubes (I found this in the CS), there are little goldish coloured discs, with what looks to be portholes for interconnections. What's to say, that that's not copper for conducting electricity? And that the Dwemer had certain steam machines that produced an electric current similar to how we do today, with similar technology?

Glory be. I had almost forgotten those twin ash piles. Good to be reminded. I have a collection of all the ash piles found in the ruin.

In all honesty? I've never given much of a thought to Dwemer tubes. I only knew I liked to steal them from people's houses and line them up on the shelf until a loot bag showed up.
