More than likely just ruins. As they were in Morrowind.

Probably the same involvement as the previous games: gone, but not forgotten due to the stuff they left behind.

Their affect on the world still standing today, I think.
There were Dwemer ruins and inventions in Morrowind, and they didn't play a big role. What's the big deal?
The Ayleid's didn't play a massive role in Oblivion.

I'm just glad the ruins are back, I find them much more interesting than Ayleid ruins

Return of dwemer ruins is nice, but I'd still like to see new lore about the Falmer.

The Dwemer lived in the Velothi and West Reach mountains, both of which border Skyrim. The borders shift over time, so either Skyrim now takes up parts of Morrowind and Hammerfell (likely) or parts of it used to be part of Morrowind and Hammerfell (also likely). The Rourken Dwemer also traveled over Skyrim during their migration, so some ruins could be remnants of that.

I want to explore the Nordic aspect of Tamriel. I don't want to see a bunch of crap from past games. Skyrim is a new game, with new landscapes, game mechanics and all other AMAZING goodies.

As for the Dwemer... Maybe we'll see a dwemer dungeon near the Morrowind border. That's it. Honestly, the whole dwemer thing is getting old, and I think we can all agree on the fact that the Dwemer hold NO ground on the main storyline itself.

That's just me though.

Dwemer ruins can be anywhere they want. The future borders of other civilizations wouldn't affect where they built their fortresses. It could well be that the Dwemer built extensively into Skyrim past the Velothi Mountains, we'll just have to see.

I have to disagree, the Dwemer were at the center of or heavily involved the story for both Morrowind and Tribunal. True the Ayleid's didn't seem to have much of a role int he mainquest, but I think that just be the virtue that they are bringing the Dwemer into Skyrim, there has to be something interesting going on. Not sure if I'd be willing to bet it has to do with the mainquest, but it could be.

not by the map, its still the same border i think.
also the dwemer inhabited alot more than just morrowind and Vvardenfell, hammerfell was named after a dwarven artifact named volendrung

I really doubt this is just for one dungeon. If they were just going to do this once, they wouldn't do it at all. Anyways, I believe several people have spotting names on the Skyrim map that appear to be Dwemer ruin names.

yeah, i think the reason they were not in oblivion was because they didn't have the time to do anything with them before release date. also they didnt even have final hardware untill 6 months before release.

Kagrenac's Tools seem to be the only important part about the Dwemer from Morrowind, but I never beat Morrowind.

That's because, you can't beat Morrowind...

In the Todd interview, there were Nords living in Dwemer towns.

Let me repeat that: DWEMER TOWNS.

Frakkin' awesome!

I don't think he said that. Without going back to check and make sure, I recall him saying "These people living in mountain sides carved by the dwarves" or something similar. So it could be bandits for all we know.

Oblivion's cities weren't very original. Too imperial? :P

It sounds like Skyrim's cities are going to be much more interesting.

Well they weren't in Oblivion because they didn't have any settlements in Cyrodiil. The Ayleids would have enslaved them if they had and after the fall of the Ayleids, Cyrodiil was the dominion of the Imperials. There just wasn't any period in time where the Dwemer could get a foothold in Cyrodiil.

Don't think (nor necessarily want them to) that they tie into the plot too heavily for this one. The dungeons will probably mostly serve as a novelty and source of some additional lore, perhaps one or two parts of the main quest will involve them.
