Dwermer technology

This makes me think of what happened in fable. If that happens in skyrim I will cry.

so this is another gun thread?
Yep, because the dwemer made every piece of technology for the [censored] sake of technology and were punished for it

I dont understand your logic. Going from steam to muskets makes no sense. There's not much of a logical connection between how you harness steam power, and using gunpowder for firearms. You can have one without the other (just like in real life; firearms existed before steam power).

If you really want to know the first functionong steam driven 'engine' was made around 10 - 70 by Heron from Alexandria

Way to use a biased poll to sneak in yet another damn "I want teh gunzz in teh Skyrim, yeah!!one!!1!" thread. So we can vote "Yeah I want it all," "Yeah I want most of it," or "I don't care" but anyone who wants to vote "No" isn't allowed because that's not what the OP wants. Biased poll is biased.

EDIT: No real surprise either, considering the OP's last thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1180525-dwermer-muskets-do-you-wish-they-would-be-in/

Advanced technology like trains, cars, tanks, guns and such would be the downfall of TES as we know it.

Also, what the hell is this supposed to mean? "There should be some rare dwermer-level equipment, like muskets and snipers"

Have you even played Morrowind, or really even cared about the dwemer? They haven't made any sort of guns. They made steam powered dart guns on one of their bots, crossbows, and ballistas, but that's about it. That option makes no sense, other than you have a grave misunderstanding or no understanding about the dwemer.

They also didn't made technology for the sake of it either. All of what they did was towards the goal of the creation of the Numidium. As one of their jokes sent (paraphrased), it's easy for 1 dwemer to make 100 golems, it's almost impossible to make 1 golem from 100 dwemer.

http://images.uesp.net//c/c0/TR_Creature_RadacStungnthumz.jpg would also have been sufficient. And there is this http://images.uesp.net//4/43/MW-art-Dwemer-Concept.jpg of the dwemer. Also to note, they're roughly as tall as an Imperial.

I wonder if it was the dragons that caused the extinction of the Dwemer to begin with. Maybe there's some plot-related story to tell about the Skyrim dwemer.

Dwemer technology works best when it's kept somewhat mysterious I think. The railway thing, if it'd just be something that was down in the ruins, could be cool but I'm not really into the idea of Dwemer guns that you could take outside and use yourself.

Was it not mostly already explained by their tampering with the heart of lorkhan? If it were dragons then their extinction of dwemer was timed pretty strangely with those events. Also it was never mentioned in lore if the dwemer ever fought dragons let alone at that time in particular and other dragons in lore were not all servants of Alduin coming to destroy nirn. So I don't think that would really fit in lore wise.

Skyrim seems like a viking-ish type of theme, so I don't think that steam tech would be appropriate. And no firearms. Yuck.

The TES universe already has Cannons, Ballistae, seige-weapons etc etc, they are just not rendered in game, like alot of things.

Seems like a rather huge and mass-affecting part of the world to simply not be rendered in the game.
Or rather, it's a theme that was present in previous titles (Redguard, Daggerfall), that the series has steadily moved away from ever since Morrowind.

On the subject of the Dwemer tech, the Dwemer don't make tech. They make mythic constructs with metal wrapping paper, whose true purposes are far more esoteric and divine-reaching than that of tech as we understand it. So I don't see taking and utilizing what they made in an overtly practical sense.
Though the steampunk fan in me is more inclined to see that railway in a deep dwemer citadel...

i think there should be some dwemer maces and stuff i mean it is a bit of usable history in the series, I also think there should be some refrence to the Akavari in Oblivion i loved reading some of the books in it (they arn't that bad) and i really enjoyed ones on the Akavari

NO GUNS!

I would love to see some crazy Dwemer lab with a bunch of wacky experiments in it done by a Mad Scientist.

They didn't. The dwemer are the golden skin of the Numidium ever since Kraganac use the tools on the heart in the first era. This was confirmed by two (or was one of them not one?) devs some time shortly after Morrowind.

I really like it how the concept art and the in-game model translated very nicely. In addition, I love it how the dwemer are normal sized beings, with a Mesopotamian look.

hm... i never thought about railroads in TES... Maybe some kind of "railroad" would fit once we get a game that goes all over Tamriel, but not the kind of railroad that we think of. Maybe A... ma-gic... railroad?... that sounds pretty lame actually. Lets just keep the teleportation spells, and silt striders/wagons/carriages.

I think we'll see more legendary weapons from the Dwemer as we have seen in previous games. And since Oblivion had dwemer stuff, why not Skyrim?

The root transportation thing from the TES novel popped into my mind. But I guess you would need to plant more Hist.

I honestly dont see why people are so against guns
I dont want them common in the game, like 1 would be good for me
it doesnt even have to be a good weapon it could just be for the visual affect

I will be happy with just more lore and minor artifacts. I wouldn't want it to turn into a world of warcraft experience with steam powered tanks and crap. I just have a feeling that most people would start comparing it to WoW after that and nobody wants that to happen. This game deserves to be compared only to it's predecessors.
