How about primitive railways, steam-power, mechanical machines, muskets etc. ?

Another can of worms I am afraid. There are plenty of polls about firearms, the large majority have voted against them, and saying they are of Dwemer manufacture doesn't really change the issue.

I think it [Dwemer tech] works best as a kind of ambient feature of the world; a layer of background, rather than something especially interactive or important to gameplay.

But we know there are Dwemer ruins, and centurion spheres, so who knows what we might see. Steam trains are always and objectively awesome in fantasy games.

Spoiler
Psst... it's spelt Dwemer.

Did you know primitive guns generally require at least 2 people to fire and they were designed for siege warfare and pretty useless otherwise?

Also dwemer may have had golums, crossbows, ballistas and steam powered dart launcers they did not have firearms!

And of course there's the old, old argument, even if the Dwemer did leave guns behind, who would be daft enough to risk blowing themselves up experimenting with gunpowder, when you can pay a guy in a shop in your town to teach you a fireball spell, which unless you cast it on an enemy with reflection, is perfectly safe.

The denizens of Tamriel have already shown they are too stupid to harness the power of Dwemer steam technology, even though it is very simple. I don't see why they would start now.

The black wood company had a form of factory equipment. Perhaps black smiths could have such a equipment. I wouldn't have a problem with steam power providing it is used in a subtle way. If I see a steam engine I will cry.

I still think alternative ways to project magic would be nice, so I'd like to see a few odd ball weapons that are magic staff in game turns but look like a taliment, orb or crossbow/gun, I don't want fire arms in the traditional sence but special magic items would be nice and so would ways of making an alchemist offensive without bring magica directly into it like with thrown potions and darts/sling/bow/gun ect ranged variations.

That fireball spell is extremely weak. Using your logic then bows would also be obsolete. HELL, even swords would.

You need to be a powerful mage able to cast powerful fireball spells to not need weapons.

What power could steam provide if not in an engine? Steam engines aren't that complicated http://science.howstuffworks.com/transport/engines-equipment/steam1.htm

All you need to know, is that 1kg of hot air/liquid takes up allot more space than 1kg of the same cold air/liquid.

As for the guy who said primitive muskets svck: No primitive muskets were not operated by 2 people. They were extremely light and primitive.

Besides, dwermer muskets would be much more advanced! We got magic and whatnot.

Dwemer artifacts are generally worthless. The dwemer took their knowledge with them when they went poof. Finding a dwemer gun would be pointless as no one would know how to use it. And if they did, there probably won't be any propellant for it since there would undoubtedly be some arcane dwemer magics involved with making it.

Nearly all of the dwemer junk we found in morrowind was extremely dangerous, useless, or unfathomable. And guarded by things of the same description.

I suspect there will be some artifacts still clanging along in any dwemer ruins we find but I don't see anything more than the average dwarven items found in every other TES game.

Not at all, my logic is that primitive firearms, and black powder research, are dangerous, possibly with lethal explosions. Bows and swords are relatively much, much safer, so of course they would be used.

I picked "I don't really care" because your poll is completely senseless. The popular conception of the word "primitive" in this context implies stone or bone weapons. This isn't TES stone age. On the other hand, I obviously don't want firearms. If you wished to create an effective poll then just make it based around defined weapon groups or specific eras

I would have voted "Other" if it had been there. I want the Dwemer to be implemented like in Morrowind, and no guns/snipers or whatever.

Since when did the Dwemer craft muskets or "snipers"?

No.

High level dwemer mechanics would be their machines, there has never been any reference to a firearm in TES.

Morrowind also already had a huge emphasis on the Dwemer, most of the Mage's Guild in Morrowind dealt with researching them, and in one point you learned how to summon a centurion sphere.

Dwemer ruins can make an appearance, in fact I hope they do, but unless they flesh out the lore on their disappearance, nothing more can be done with our short friends.

since dwemers are like EXTINCT or w/e i'm pretty sure it would be very rare to see dwemer technology...
technology such as steam or w/e that dwemer taught people would be ok though, but things only they could do that they kept to themselves, no thx.
i don't really care if it's in or not though.

If the dwemer made guns, and if you found one, you would still be missing a propellant unless they were magical.

So they wouldn't fire anyway, and could be easily used for quests (as a part of the quest, or a quest for them) or just for decoration without actually effecting the game if Bethesda were to go that route.

Edit: It would be weird if you found them all over the place though when, as far as I know, there were none in any of the ruins in Morrowind.

The TES universe already has Cannons, Ballistae, seige-weapons etc etc, they are just not rendered in game, like alot of things.

They're described as average height (taller than bosmer, at least), with a slim build. There are even Dwemer ghosts in Morrowind, so we do know that they are, in fact, not dwarves. They were labelled as dwarves by Giants they interacted with.

Also, I don't want firearms of any kind in my TES game.

I'm thinking mostly in the line of muskets, machines, steam power etc.

It would be cool if you could, for example, ride some primitive steam-powered railway machine or use a musket to attack your foes... What'ya think?

I dont understand your logic. Going from steam to muskets makes no sense. There's not much of a logical connection between how you harness steam power, and using gunpowder for firearms. You can have one without the other (just like in real life; firearms existed before steam power).
