DX11 Incentive... Developers, Give us Anything!

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:47 pm

its not my fault or pc community's fault that crysis 2 sold only 14% in UK in retail (which to xbaw fanboys and self deprecating pc gamers means the whole world).

Y should crytek hold the patch hostage citing lack of sales. Y would anybody assuming crysis 2 not selling well is our fault, when crytek are the ones that f-ed up big time?? No custom graphics, no quicksaves, no 64bit support.......had to patch press start to begin... and the world "TV" is still there in brightness control. COD style MP which pc gamers dont like. Do Dx10/11 support, bad textures, heavy bloom, hdr and blur.....They have to earn our money and are not entitled to our money

As I have said before in other posts, and no doubt why Crytek wont respond to DX11 is because you cant patch a DX9 game to be a native DX11 game.

It does not work that work. The game was built using DX9 from the ground up. For it to become DX11, it would have to be rebuilt, not patched.

Sorry to burst bubbles as so many people seem to be mega excited about waiting for the DX11 "patch" which frankly... Is not going to happen in the way most people seem to think.
I agree that. A DX11 patch will not make that difference. Some 'beautifying' of the game is possible of course. But even a 150hp engine will not make a fully fledged motorcycle out of a bicycle.

No. Do not under estimate how many sales steam has had. Much more than retail. Those percents are not accurate, I am sure. Our voice counts just as well as any other. selling 100,000 pc units is still making 6 mill.

As per the Steam game statistics, Crysis 2 currently has less players online than Bad Company 2.

What should be worrying you is the fact that these apparently rubbish games currently have over five times as many players as Crysis 2 each, and together they have nearly twelve times as many players.

UPDATE: EA has issued Eurogamer with a statement on the matter, adding further confusion to the status of DirectX 11 support for Crysis 2.
"We have not made any official announcements about a patch yet," an EA spokesperson said.

So, not yet ;)

Keyword here is "yet". They can't be planning to turn around now and say there's no DX11 because with statements like this they just further entrench themselves in a commitment to eventually deliver DX11.

The game was designed in cryengune 3, which natively supports dx10/11, in the beta version you can see the dx10/11 dlls, and the x64 executable, I think they were just unfinished, and EA didnt allowed a delay, they preferred to launch and then patch it to avoid people playing the leaked version and sell more, but aparenttly it didn't work as they planned

What are you talking about?

Aside from 2/3 days of server errors, BF43 was a monumental success. Or did you mean the PC version being ditched?

@ daniel.klein

I don't think cryengine3 is designed for DX10/11, maybe cryengine2 was. Cryengine3 is designed to support console ( beside the PC ) platform. There are DLLs already that's true but as mentioned above, the reason for the DLLs is just to 'beautify' the game. ( in context with cryengine3 read DX11 not as technologically improvement, it's just to calm us users )

Regarding EA, I think you are right. They want to sell the game, no matter what would happen to the reputation of the game developers ( Crytek in this case )

Finally let's hope that other things, especially MP-gameplay get fixed. If they aren't able to fix this issues until mid of april latest, we will read on wiki next summer:

Once upon a time there was a company named Crytek ..........

Please don't bump your threads.

As per the other hundreds of threads regarding this, unfortunately we have no information to release at the moment. Any announcements will be easily found at the top of forums, in news posts, on the main page, etc. An announcement of that size is not going to make it's debut as a reply post in a thread. Asking the same question repeatedly is not going to magically make an answer appear, as unfortunate as that may be.

I hope you realize the idiocy of not answering this extremely important question, whoever is in charge of keeping this under wraps (most likely EA) should be fired, as it is very hurtful to sales.

Anyway, I respect your response and will stick around the forums to see how DX11 and other PC demands turn out! It would be nice to get a simple "Yes/No" about DX11 being worked on, because if it is a No it would be nice for me to be able to simply move on from this title instead of simply playing the wait game. I want to know if this is the same Crytek I knew and loved from 2004 - 2008. I really hope that Crytek can fix this game up to be a proper PC title and redeem yourselves from the RIP 2004 - 2011 status you guys currently have.

Crytek, please talk some sense into EA, they are really hurting your company image and it is also hurting sales. I do hope you guys are doing the right thing and working on a good DX11 patch, but I guess only time will tell.

Thanks for the status update, or update talking about no update! :)
