Hmm...how long do we have to wait as this is very unprecise? Maybe Crytek announced that only to calm down the raging crowd. Throwing some sweets into the snake pit.

Hope we don′t have to wait weeks or months for it to be released, but I fear this would be the case.

DX11 support will be a welcome addition! The original Crysis pushed my system to the MAX and the details were stunning! It was the benchmark to be compared to visually. DX9 is aging at best and the DX11 patch should allow capable systems to bring out the beauty in Crysis2!
Eagerly awaiting the patch date!

Glad my upgrade to a GTX 460 (from 9800 GTX+) wasn't a waste after all... I upgraded, just for Crysis 2.

did anyone else notice that there are a D3DX9_42.dll and a d3dx10_42.dll in the ...\Crysis 2\bin32 folder? There is no d3dx11_42.dll :) Wonder what happens if one add it manually ;)

The file is already on your disk: ...\Crysis 2\install\directx\Aug2009_d3dx11_42_x86.cab (open/extract with winrar)

Based on the file sizes of D3DX9_42.dll and d3dx10_42.dll these are 32 bit versions, so I guess the d3dx11_42.dll needs to be as well...

I bet dx=auto is already set for this game :p

Its about time.

Thanks for finally officially announcing it. Now, back to what we all were asking originally, WHEN?

Based on how the announcement was worded, it seems that its still a ways out, as they wont even announce the features until 'closer' to release.

Great news, thanks crytek, but don't forget about the advanced options. :)

Edit: The best way is by thinkin that it will get released in a couple a months. If it doesn't get released sooner than that, well then that's a shame and a fail.

“When there are any big announcements regarding Crysis 2 they will be posted on gamesas.com, and if you don’t see it on gamesas.com then it isn’t genuine.”

Remember when CryTom said that?

You can bet that many console gamers will be watching the PC now wanting to see some demonstration of what sort of features are likely in the next generation consoles like the X Box 720. Especially after the Samaritan Demo was widely publicized. I know I would be if I was a console gamer right now.

Of course you will have the fanboy's hoping for the PC to fail but even they will be watching, and they can be impressed by the dev's implementation of DX11 on PC even if they won't admit it.

Great. I'm anticipating the advanced GFX options more though, as I think i'm getting epileptic with all the blur. Any chance we can get that in the next patch (asap) please?

The way of the year 2011.
Bring PC game to console devs, hype how different the game will be from consoles, and slack half the storyline and terrain from previous foundations. Then the turndown, DX11 will bi implemented as additional.

Yaaaaay. Sorry I can't be enthusiastic since I can only use DX10. Hows DX10 coming along by the way?
This patch is for DX11 only.

Then I am disappointed cause I only have DX10 (9800GTX+) Can't understand why you don't care for DX10 users. We bought DX10 to use it for Crysis 1 and Warhead to support it. And now I MUST upgrade to 11 cause you made such a weird decission? I do not. I think you must support this. Do you think this will be possible?

Nice to see that everybody is shouting at their monitors... and saying "f***ing Yeah." about bl***y time as well. Good news, although I would imagine this is probably going to take some time to do, so I wouldn't open that Champaign just yet, it could take a month or even more.

Wow now everyone is svcking Crytek's **** 'cause of DX11. What happened to all the moaning about the bugs, no DX10, linear environments, simplified controls, linear Suit modes, lack of 64bit optimization, and non existent advanced graphical options?

So is it ging to be a massive graphical improvement or is it just plain dx11 support? It's not exactly the part where it does'nt say dx11 that bothers me about Crysis 2.

We would like to announce that there will be a DX11 patch released for Crysis 2. We are working to get the best out of DX11, so we’ll wait to announce the features until a little closer to release.

Thank you!

Me so happy :D
