DX11 Patch Announced for Crysis 2!

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:02 am

I wouldn't say it's a port to or from any platform. Sure, perhaps been there's more focus on consoles for various reasons but one of the features of CryEngine 3 is to work on all 3 platforms simultaneously. DX11 may just be the same as a PS3,PC,XBX output; it's ingrained into the engine's coding and requires a toggle switch to activate. But what I personally think happened is that halfway through the dev cycle Crytek had to shift their focus off DX11 and on consoles in order to meet EA's deadline. If you look at the old publicity shots or the low res intro movie, they were said to be rendered in-game, so I don't think DX11 is a tacked on feature, rather one that needs to be reimplimented. However, so much work has been done on the game in the last year (for example) that DX11 takes a bit more implement smoothly than just a simple switch.
But that's just my two cents worth.

I was kicked off of the EA forum for calling EA an evil Nazi empire. I am very proud of that, plus I think they just proved my point. Censoring people is one of the main tasks of an evil empire.

Except EA is no different to any other for-profit organisation.
And Nazis were a racist group who wanted to exterminate certain people, so the general populous matched their idea of 'perfect'.

You're just another dime a dozen dumb kid with no legitimate points, facts or arguments and hate EA because you think you're supposed to. I bet you can't name a single business practice. They were right to ban you, not because you were making a point, but because you're a worthless bandwagoner.

i have come to the conclusion that this game is to fast and linear (corridor) for dx11 anyway, would of worked in crysis1 with heeps of open space and plenty too explore .bolt on dx11 ?i think getting rid of the consolerised set up menu is a must.just my 5cents thanx for reading my post duke.
Derp

Metro 2033. Small locations were part of the game design, the theme for Metro was claustrophobia. Being trapped in tunnels to stay alive. The benefit of DX11 was HUGE.

Some people just need to shut the **** up already. The downside of forums is any idiot gets a voice, regardless of their knowledge. Such a sad state. The fact that there's so many stupid people is probably the most frustrating thing. As a Crysis 2 fan and PC gamer, I get lumped in with the rest of 'em with no chance to properly defend the game.

My personal opinion being new to this forum, what we are discussing is so great that even if we end the two monsters consumers always have the final word. So much is demonstrated by what happened. Just think as big would not fit them all in the same bag and users like me and others who have hardware according to what they should have offered us, today we are regretting not being able to use it, I buy the PC knows its benefits, even if they can get, and I buy console knows his limitations (they can not hide more than their creators).
DX11 patch at this point is very unlikely to leave, it makes no sense to finish the game and start again with a patch.
Over time they are taking or are creating another game, that leaves us with his mouth open, or is it all a lie

i spend lots of euros on my pc, as i did during the beginning of this year. Main reason was Crysis2, and the fact that Skyrim, Rage, MW3 and BF3 would also come out during this year. I did read about Crysis2 being develop seperatly for the pc and after watching the first trailers and teasers it looked so good, my head was in the clouds. Then when you finally start the game and you read "press start to begin" and then you look @ the menu settings, I got the feeling I bought some beta version......but that didnt make any sense. No reason to explain the rest. In my opinion they messed up big time, and just wanted their own AAA title on as many platforms as possible. I do hope Crytek and EA all the best on the console market and they will have fun with the next generation of consoles to. But you guys better work real hard on making your next games uncrackable, cuz the hell with me buying any more games from crytek and/ or EA!!!

EA finally learnt the "how to do DLC" lesson after years of repeatedly gouging their customers and splitting player bases in too many games to count.

Look at the logos on the bottom. Damn EA giving away a free game in one of their major IPs. How evil.

Still waiting on a single salient point on their business practices...

lol

If you'd ever played it, you'd realise what an appalling piece of rubbish it is. Funnily enough it is actually another gouging system, based on getting the player into the habit of constantly making "microtransactions*" just to keep his troops equipped with the latest and greatest weapons/clothes/emotes etc. Very quickly a "free" game becomes much more expensive than just buying the original BF2 complete set, which funnily enough actually runs well, doesn't look as bad and suffers nowhere near as many problems nowadays.

Do some reading on the history of another EA "free" game called Battlefield Heroes and you'll find out how EA ripped the heart out of that games community overnight when they decided to massively increase the base costs of that game.

Why on earth would I want to debate business practices with you? I finished my business and economics courses nearly twenty years ago. I've only seen a few of your posts in this thread and they were mostly whitewashing, or garbage.

*In the EA world these tend to not be so micro after a little while.

First off, it makes perfect sense. The first line was jokingly written to convey how stupid the argument was.

Secondly 'destructured' is a verb meaning 'to destroy', the word you were looking for is 'unstructured' - which still is incorrect. Poorly worded sentences do not fall under the structure of a paragraph.

If you still don't get it:
Poster claimed corridor shooters don't benefit from DX11
A corridor shooter (Metro 2033) is highly praised for it's implementation of DX11, therefore the poster was wrong.

Anything else you need me to spoon feed you?

lol
...

How does that make EA a quote 'evil nazi empire'?
How does that make EA any different to other for-profit companies?

The 'evil EA' people are bandwagoners, plain and simple.

By the time they release the DX11 patch I'm going to be playing other games to even care...

Seriously, why release it 3 months after release? It better be a MASSIVE improvement visually if it's taking this much time.

People need to learn that the graphics API has nothing to do with why Crysis 2 is the way it is. Crytek just ported Crysis 2 badly and DX11 isn't going to magically make the game better.

It's actually a fact that Crysis 2 is a good port because it's better than the 360 version, you pay less money, you get a better frame rate. The fact that it didn't come with all the PC stuff you usually expect is just how it is.
Wait, Crysis 2 for PC is a port? I thought the game was made for PC and THEN ported to consoles. Not the other way around :S

The bloke is wrong. it was made on PC first as it's easier to port after the fact. You can tweak specific settings to each platform which is how CryEngine 3 was designed from the start. DX11 option was simply not ready yet is all.
