DX11 Patch Announced for Crysis 2!

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 8:22 am

People were expecting it to be like Crysis 1, so they upgraded their rigs. Battlefield 3 will need a very high end system to max it though but I bet it will sell like hot cakes, a lot more than Crysis 2.

Sales? Crysis 1 sold 3 million copies. Crysis 2 has already hit 2 million copies....and only ~25% of that is from PC (including digital sales).

Hmm, either people these days prefer to play FPS's with a controller, or heard of the hackers and glitches on the PC version. If the first, then thats sad imo

steam never release their sales figures so it won't include all digital sales.

You guys are on crack/ Graphics aren't the issue. Go on Steam. The majority of users have GPUs between 8800GTs and HD 5770 in the power perspective. (Which is actually a small range...a little under 5750 to 5770.)

This game at Extreme settings is just perfect for those cards. If the graphics were better people would bich about it not running. Why do you think Crysis sold 3 million copies but Warhead only 1.5 million? Because 1.5 million of the Crysis owners couldn't run the damn game and had no reason to buy the expansion. And playing Crysis on Low/Medium is simply a pain in the ass. You need it on High or it simply loses it's touch.

This game brings nice graphics to the mainstream PC gamer...but it was too buggy and hacked and unplayable so people stopped playing it.

Now to get people to like this game again Crytek has to appeal to the owners of high end PCs that haven't purchased this game yet so the image isn't fully negative.

Seems you stole that crack...... Max settings being perfect for 5770 is rediculous...... Seriously. the game does'nt scale beyond mid range!

You're implying it's great because low end gamers can feel good about setting it to Extreme mate.

Either that or you actually think that system specs are irrelevant as long as the highest setting has a cool name.

On another note. I don't know how people are making assumptions about DX11 performance because Heaven DX11 benchmark only loses about 8fps in DX11/tessellation, and that's very heavy use of tessellation.
No it doesn't?
Use extreme and it dominates the FPS.

Figures pulled from your arse mate.
The sales have dropped significantly and only total around 1.2 million?
PC sales are poor, because it's a poor game.
A sold PC game is more profit than a console sale.
Crysis 1 was more profitable.

Sales are 3 times less that of Crysis 1.
That's not good at all.
Crysis 1 was more profitable as ;
1) Developed for only one system
2.) PC sales are more than a console sale in profit for developer
2.) Sold 3 times as many copies, and is still selling to this day because it's a game that is actually good.

Well of course because it wasn't as excepted on the PC and the MP demo killed it. If Crysis2 /DX11 came out with the graphical quality of Crysis 1, then it would have sold much better.

When'd I mention graphics?
And since when does everyone who bought the original game buy the expansion?
A 2:1 ratio on original to expansion is bloody brilliant.

What do you expect? Nobody would use extreme tessellation like that in a game because it just shows the feature off, that's what the Heaven benchmark does.

That makes your claim of it barely running less FPS wrong though.
Normal tessellation, I can average 60 fps.

It's just a benchmark showing tessellation in the end and a lot of the scene is tessellated. I get:

Default settings, 1920x1080
GTX460 1GB

No Tessellation: 38fps

Normal Tessellation : 30fps

To everyone talking about Crysis 2 not scaling past mid-range it's totally the truth. 1920x1080P in 3D on 1 GTX 560 Ti I can turn on v-sync and get a flawless 60FPS on extreme settings. I can even run the little mod tool that guy released and max everything and still get the same. When I turn on SLI (which causes INSANE flickering and it's unplayable and it causes the freaking aim/sight to disappear) but ya in SLI I can get 80-120FPS easily, that's not exactly a graphics powerhouse. My system is SLI 560 and a 4.6ghz 2500K with 8gb ram, running one card I'm mid range, SLI i'm mid-high range gamer. Can't imagine how all the SLI GTX 580 or 590/6990 gamers feel

Oh and in Heaven benchmark the tessellation doesn't cause a big drop for me either.

EA announced that Crysis 2 has hit 2 million sales. I trust EA/Crytek with sales figures a hell of a lot more than VGChartz.

it was fail of CrEAtek to sell maps for money if keep in mind community mood about the game and the game conditions for the moment. many ppl left the game last time and announcing not free DLC this period was mistake
i didn't buy the DLC and don't plan to do so while the game is not it should be. and one more thing - i played this weekend a bit and see no servers with new maps in rotation. why the hell should i buy the maps (even if they are good as hell) if no servers where i can play on them? just thoughts

I'd like to see the DX11 patch make Crysis 2 look like that wallpaper shots in the gallery. Honestly, they should be able to do it and with high levels of AA is can be done.

Also, please make the fire look proper like Crysis 1 because this red fire in Crysis 2 looks really cheap, and probably is a cheap effect. We know you can do it Crytek, so please blow us away with this DX11 patch.

I played one level of this game in rev 1.4. The game plays too much like a console port. The only thing good about this game is the stereo3d menues/cut scenes.
It does not appear to utilize dx10 but rather uses mostly dx9 with some dx10 components. For those that want a true benchmark game for system preformance, use metro 2033. Metro eye candy, will make most systems crawl unless your card is at 880/1600/2050 in dx11 stereo3d 1080p.

I'd like a refund. lol
I guess ill wait for the real pc game to come out once its dx11 capable/patched. Its too bad you made a rush job on such a nice engine just to make it to market.
Game play -1
stereo3d 9
use of dx components -1
locking cvars for single player =bad

Sometimes on the kill cam i'm about to take aim with my JAW after just grabbing it off my back and no joke, the graphics are that awesome it looks like a bloody sci-fi movie that's playing on the screen, really fantastic.

Playing without motion blur, without Edge AA, zero Texture Anisotropy, no Post MSAA and i use hit sound feedback.

I immediately thought it would be DX11 after watched this emotional roller. It is seen that done on the engine! http://www.gametrailers.com/video/the-wall-crysis-2/64318
Therefore, I do not doubt that Crysis 2 will require powerful hardware. Made the upgrade.
