DX11 Patch Announced for Crysis 2!

i hope u guys consider this while doing crysis 2 dx11 patch pls.
http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=31520674&postcount=28 IMO this is the best and most informative post in this thread. Thanks, I understand a lot more about DX10 and 11 as a result of reading the article you linked to and why full DX11 support for the game has been so slow.

I use an ATi HD6970 card and looking at the AMD website I can't see anything on there that indicates support for multi-threading with the graphics. I can see how this would allow a fully DX11 enabled card to not only render higher quality images but also use the deferred render queue to overcome bottlenecks and speed up the processing, I hope that AMD get that added to their drivers before the patch is released.

Its driver based, so you can expect your 6970 to have it. Actually, AMD would prefer to give developers access to the metal and remove the API. Believe me the card is capable, its probably in the 11.4 beta or it will be in the final driver release (11.4). There are a lot of developers thats asking for these drivers, BF3 needs it. Multi-threaded rendering is going to be big for any dev team developing on PC.

guess this will make everyone happy, but I'd like to give priority to fixing bugs. Of course DX11 will be more than welcome for my "gotta catch em all" collectibles campaign.

i agree

but i rather have the login bug fixed than DX11 no flaming towards DX11 fans out there but its almost
a month now since i have this game and i still havent played multiplayer :(

rather see that your focusing more on the cheaters , noone playes a game full whit cheaters u will loose alot of players soon if something dont happens.

They need to fix these things outside of DX11

-Better textures (and POM)
-More breakable trees & objects
-More physical objects
-Use more shader on material
-Replace poor models like the diseased people and the marines

Personally, I don't think some PC gamers such as myself give a **** about the patch later on the campaign as it was already missing some major things that really should be there on launch, with this being one of them. I really had expected better from them but I was proven wrong by this recent turn of events. No thanks to you guys for taking a month to even confirm a patch and other things. Some of the basic questions we have are still going unanswered, such as Sandbox 3, 64-bit executables, and DX10 support and how it will be implemented, like the depreciation feature model from the DX11 specification compatibility mode or none at all. This announcement was no different from others which it did not even say what they would add in it. At this point, I am truly going to just say that it will be a half-***** implementation despite what the developers are saying because they can't be worth to release a list of some things that would be added with DX11. Heck, the announcement was only 3 lines long too. To say that I hope your next game loses a lot of sales would be an understatement. This game in terms of longevity will die a painful death, both multiplayer being very bugged and modding nowhere to be confirmed.

Check out the article linked a page back, you'll see that certain drivers weren't available at launch. Tessellation, 16k textures and compute shading was possible, but DX11 features as a whole weren't. If Crytek had gave you what you wanted without those drivers, without giving you access to multi-threaded rendering you would more than likely got a game maxing out at 20fps. 16k textures, compute shader lighting and reflections, tessellation, etc.

Eish. Althought its great news, and thats what everyone asked for... confirmation, i am already obsessively checking these forums, and now its just going to be worse.

No really, i have a script refresing the page every 5 seconds, and displaying this on a alert monitor next to my pc while i play games.

Yaaaaay. Sorry I can't be enthusiastic since I can only use DX10. Hows DX10 coming along by the way?

Edit: It's funny how they trying to polish their turd. If any DX is patched in its bound to svck anyway lulz. I'll wait for BF3 which was built with DX10 and 11 from the start thanks. dumbb*tch.jpg

lolz.....the pc version of bf is built from the ground up using DX11 not **** DX10. go read some articals about. not bein a dike jus lettin u know. no mention on anything DX10. only heard about the DX11

We've known there will be DX11 support for a long time now ala Nathan Camarillo. Everyone who was pitching a fit before is just retarded and wanted something to complain about.

So at the end of the day, we know nothing more than we did 1 week before the release of Crysis 2.

Seeing as how PC accounts for a meger 14% of Crysis 2 sales I think you need to stop coddling the PC communtiy and fix the issues us console guys are having with your buggy game... Word of mouth is damning and I honestly couldn't recommend this game to anyone in the state it's in.

Oh and congrats to the PC community. At least they show you love.

I run C2 with a single GTX 460 SE (has less shaders than regular 460), and it's just fine... Settings are maxed, it's completely smooth.

I'm planning on getting another one for SLI along with a new PSU soon, hopefully the SLI issues will be worked out by then. I kinda kicked myself in the ass today, I was looking at a circular from Microcenter and they have a GTX 465 for $169 w/ a $40 MIR! So final price is actually $129. Never know when good deals will just fall out of the air, that's the one thing that svcks about gaming on a PC.

I hope that DX11 patch will include a hi-res texture pack cause without it it just wont work.Low res textures are killing this game.But if we get a high res texture pack and a proper DX11 Tesselation it wil be a blast.
Just take your time Crytek and do it properly no more f.u.c.k ups please !!!!

I still have multiplayer/connection issues, being desconnected all the time, why do I care about DX11 if i can't play mp.
Already sent an e-mail to support, but no answer yet, 3 days pass...
Crysis 2 is the only game that I can't play the multiplayer more than 2/3 minutes.
Lucky mine, I bought to Xbox 360 too.
