dont get your hopes up guys what will dx11 add other than slightly better graphics and poorer frame rates? will it add physics or radical destruction and not make it consoley? mind that this is from crytek that released "Crysis 2", not the crytek of old.

I got a question, have you guys ever tried to hook up a xbox 360 controller to the console for playing Crysis 2?

not really :]

You can hook up a xbox 360 controller and add your headphones in the UBS slot above. The computer is designed to recongize it because they are both made by Microsoft. I use my Xbox 360 controll for alot of games, because it just feels more natural than using keyboard and mouse for the gameplay. I also got a very nice headphone set so I could speak on teamspeak or the game's own channel. That way it is easier to play and I don't have to worry about finding the button needed on the keyboard. That is just me though...

Glad to know DX11 is coming out. There are some questions I'd like to ask:

- Will the DX11 patch be running on 64bit or still 32bit?
- Is there a chance before rolling out DX11, to make the AI smarter? Post human warrior difficulty was far too easy. I finished the game 1st time without using Nano catalyst then 2nd time with Nano Catalyst. Fully upgraded Nano Catalyst makes you breeze through the game with minimal effort.
- Will Sandbox 3 come with the DX11 bundle?

i hope u guys consider this while doing crysis 2 dx11 patch pls.
http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=31520674&postcount=28 IMO this is the best and most informative post in this thread. Thanks, I understand a lot more about DX10 and 11 as a result of reading the article you linked to and why full DX11 support for the game has been so slow.

I use an ATi HD6970 card and looking at the AMD website I can't see anything on there that indicates support for multi-threading with the graphics. I can see how this would allow a fully DX11 enabled card to not only render higher quality images but also use the deferred render queue to overcome bottlenecks and speed up the processing, I hope that AMD get that added to their drivers before the patch is released.

Its driver based, so you can expect your 6970 to have it. Actually, AMD would prefer to give developers access to the metal and remove the API. Believe me the card is capable, its probably in the 11.4 beta or it will be in the final driver release (11.4). There are a lot of developers thats asking for these drivers, BF3 needs it. Multi-threaded rendering is going to be big for any dev team developing on PC.Thanks, I did some checking on the AMD website and as you said above 11.3 doesn't have the feature added, nor does the 11.4 beta, but hopefully they will add it to 11.4 final or 1.5 beta. I'm sure they know that Crytek are looking at rolling out a DX11 patch and will hopefully want to get a driver update to ensure that they don't lose ground to nVidia. Especially as nVidia are now on their 2nd revision of driver support for multi threading.

It wouldn't surprise me if the reason for the DX11 patch delay has been down to driver support, after all how can Crytek test a product if the drivers to run the product aren't available? Or worse, they release the patch and then a driver update comes out and breaks the game, who would people blame for that?

I'm now more exctied about the driver update and seeing more power from the GPU being unleashed than I am about the DX11 patch that will then be able to use that power, finally I'll have a combination that will test my rig! ;D

I'm pretty sure CryTEK doesn't give a **** about ATi as ATi didn't pay **** to get their logo slapped on the game, if there's one company that's interested in this is will be nVidia as Crysis 2 like Crysis and Warhead are bot "nVidia the way it's meant to be played"

I do believe the support is there as if you look at the files inside the Crysis 2 folder you will see there's an ati file there and If I'm not mistaken it's for the OpenCL/GPGPU <- support for this is also in the ATi/AMD drivers and does in fact tell you Multi-Thread rendering is there already.

From the one hand I wish that you could take your time, and give us with your best (as you did with DirectX9c).
From the other hand I wish to start play with DX11 already.

waiting for your update

I am going to laugh so hard if this DX11 Patch comes out at the same time as the release of the next series of graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia xD (I.e. At the end of the year at the earliest)

But anyway, in all seriousness, I'm glad you listened to your community Crytek, and I am also glad that you wish to make my brand new system melt with giving Crysis 2 DX11... Oh this'll be fun :D
I won't be getting over the completely changed single player experience though. You should have made a new game series that was compatible for PC and console which didn't mean changing the enemies and gameplay, but oh well, we can't have everything our way eh?

honestly, I would prefer to play online with this account and its preorder bonus that I have activated on, why, instead of thinking about the graphics, do not think first to those who can not play?
