DX11 Patch Announced for Crysis 2!

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 5:32 am

Uhm, the DX11 Patch won't include a texture pack. If a texture pack is coming, it won't be soon.

It best add LAN and the functionality to create your own dedicated server.
That's all I want. I'll even keep all the damn bugs and forget about DX11.

IMO the game looks just fine now, but rather than putting out a useless dx11 patch, a high-res textures patch and bugfixes for the Damn AI might be a better use of time and resources. But nooo you guys kept shouting "WHY NO DX11" and now look what we're getting...

The team working on DX11 aren't the same team working on textures and AI :)

If anyone missed this post. This means they are working on improving textures and improving AI as well as implementing Direct X 11.

NO IT DOESN'T

It means whoever is working on the DX11 patch is not responsible for textures or AI. It doesn't say 'we are also working on...'. It says the DX11 people are not working on textures or AI. There's a difference...

They made THIS TOPIC because the community would shut the **** up about DirectX, do you seriously think they'd set themselves up AGAIN by being vague when they are in the exact same situation with textures?

If they were working on hi-res textures they would announce it. Nowhere have they ever said they will patch textures...for all we know they could just be fixing any clipped/glitched textures. That could be a single 20 pixel area at point X, Y, Z on Map X.............

Are you serious? He says it in clear english.

The team working on DX11 aren't the same team working on textures and AI.

Working is present tense of work.

Absolutely agree with w1zrdf1ngrz ; The tense is present. Some ppl read too much into something that is a simple statement. I would expect a a whole host of fixes in the next patch. But reading beyond that is pure speculation. So....to leeham720 I say, YES IT DOES!

I think saying there is a high res texture pack etc in the works is reading too much into that one sentence and is even more speculation that what leeham720 said. It honestly doesn't mean anything other than Cry-Adam saying 'we're not responsible for textures so get off my back". With DX11 there was an initial announcement. There have been no announcements for high res textures or patched AI. I agree with leeham720; until there is an announcement don't get your hopes up. Grammar and tenses are overrated nowadays anyway.

"Grammar and tenses are overrated nowadays anyway."

Well lets just assume Cry-Adam understands grammar and context. Afterall, he is a moderator and knows at this late stage in the "Fix" schedule for Crysis 2, everyone is hanging off every officially posted word here.

All I want is some sort of patch that will make some inroads in fixing bugs. If it's got DX11, all well and good. My fear is that ppl are putting a little too much faith in what DX11 will do visually for a game like this. So the brickwork will have some parralax. So the terrain may have a little more depth....not sure it's gonna be jaw dropping. I hope I'm wrong. The game already looks the goods.

One thing has become apparent though. If you havent already noticed, the suit abilities in MP need to be balanced a little. Take cloaking as an example. Go invisible and dont move, take out the sniper rifle and just prior to your shot, un-cloak (like a split second before the shot)....and finally, re-cloak post kill. Your energy level is hardly depleted - and during the shot - you were visible for all of 0.5 seconds. I guess, if this feature is available, then by all means use it. But why is it even available? All this feature really does is make camping a valid way of racking up kills. All fine if you like playing this way, but as I have been playing FPS games for longer than I would like to admit, this is not what most gamers would call 'ethical' or 'cool'. This is unbalanced and needs addressing ASAP.

Then there is the cheats who hang around servers like flies around a turd......nuff said.

To be honest, i don't think brink looks all that good. no single player, and it looks like borderlands, which is great since borderlands is my favorite game after crysis wars and crysis. To be fair it looks like it will be fun, but not for long, much like crysis 2 multiplayer.

guess this will make everyone happy, but I'd like to give priority to fixing bugs. Of course DX11 will be more than welcome for my "gotta catch em all" collectibles campaign.
I'd have to second this. I'm very excited for DX11 support, but right now priority should be given to fixing the bugs and glitches as well as tweaking the MP modes.

Pretty much the whole entire look of the game...pretty dumb question mate. Hopefully it will look better than METRO 2033 on max
doubt it really

honestly i don't think DX11 could make the game look much better without reworked textures.. i can say more - DX11 will NOT make the game look much better
but what it will do - it will drops FPS dramaticaly
so basicaly DX11 is USLESS witthout high-res textures
i hope Crytek are not completely dumb and realise it lol

We just have to wait and see ( my gosh how long ????) when this patch will be release so we can judge whether Crytek can still visually improve this game or has Crytek conclusively retrogress in terms of graphics quality (console port). In DX11 lower fps is expected and the expensive solution is to have a better or high end DX11 GPU

Basically you don't know what you're talking about if you;re implying that DX11 will run slower than DX9
- DX11 will make the game look much better
- It will increase / have more stable FPS
- so basically DX11 is NOT useless even without higher res textures
- DX11 has an new and improved shader model, and allot of effects / looks / feel can be greatly enhanced with DX11
- I hope CryTEK doesn't listen to you as that would be dumber than releasing the PC version without DX11 @ launch.

If stuff is newer then it is more bad than before? What are you talking about? Just because it's DX11 doesn't mean it will run slowly because it's newer... By your logic if Crysis 2 is newer than Crysis 1 than it may run slower because it's new!
