yes game is pretty good if foroget about price, bugs, stupid AI, incredible linier SP
Crytek did as much as they can to make this game looks good on DX 9
but be honest
it is 2011 year and console focus.. despite **** promises
if say true i really feel myself tricky coz i don't play stolen beta and i really supposed the game "focused on PC" as was promised
if i could roll back time i wouldn't buy this for real
it means i will think ten times before i'll get something from Crytek in future
Crysis 2 was just bought at the release day. fast and without doubts as well as Crysis Warhead was. it was the last time i did like that becouse i was deceived

honestly i don't think DX11 could make the game look much better without reworked textures.. i can say more - DX11 will NOT make the game look much better
but what it will do - it will drops FPS dramaticaly
so basicaly DX11 is USLESS witthout high-res textures
i hope Crytek are not completely dumb and realise it lol

Basically you don't know what you're talking about if you;re implying that DX11 will run slower than DX9
- DX11 will make the game look much better
- It will increase / have more stable FPS
- so basically DX11 is NOT useless even without higher res textures
- DX11 has an new and improved shader model, and allot of effects / looks / feel can be greatly enhanced with DX11
- I hope CryTEK doesn't listen to you as that would be dumber than releasing the PC version without DX11 @ launch.
i can say only one word - tessellation
if it nothing explain to you about game speed - we have nothing to speak about man
and i wont to call you dumb
just go and read some about tessellation processing
at least take a look at new graphics adapters overview

You're also an idiot and don't know what you're talking about.
Why DX11 is more optimized to create the effects seen in DX9, DX11 exclusive traits, such as Tessellation will make FPS plummet.

Yes, if tesselation was the only thing that was offered in DX11. A quick google search yielded me this fun little part of DX11.

Tessellation — to increase at runtime the number of visible polygons from a low detail polygonal model.
Yes that would lower fps. But how about...

Multithreaded rendering — to render to the same Direct3D device object from different threads for multi core CPUs
From what I understand from this, it allows multi core CPU's to be able to handle the same thing at the same time, so each core has a hand in stuff like rendering, so **** loads faster, so with a dual core it would take 1/2 as long to load, a quad core 1/4, and a quad core with multithreading 1/8 of the time. (correct me if I'm wrong)

So there might be more polygons, but if stuff is loading 2-8x faster, I think it would more than balance it out, and in the meantime everything looks prettier.
compared with DX9 processing speed DX11 tessellation will be SLOWER
this is the only think i ment

Just look at Metro 2033, your FPS will drop lock a rock. Look forward to buying a new graphics card just to get 30 fps. Maybe Crytek has some tricks up there sleeve to make DX11 look great and run just as good as the DX9 version, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Metro runs slowly even without DX11 support
i believe it's engine problem of low optimisation
and it works with multicors badly
i'm not sure but i feel it's enhanced stalker engine
optimisation was not strong side of this engine

Battleforge dx10.1 vs 11, which was linked in another thread.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9mooWbChQU
There's ur damn performance change.
man DX 10 svcks the dike
everyone knows DX 10 was the only marketing for VISTA and was as bad as VISTA was

and to evoid further misunderstanding - yes, DX11 is better optimized then DX 9 and games will run faster on DX11 (i suppose) but i think DX11 is stupid without tessellation and tessellation will drop FPS compared with DX9 anyway

You don't have to tell/learn me anything about new GFX cards and the processing power they have. Reading through your comments you contradict yourself and show us that you don't know what you're talking about

Everybody is only talking about tessellation no body mentions the GPGPU functions that could allow all the physics to be done on your GPU instead of your slower CPU as no matter how you bend or turn it GPU's are way beyond CPU's now a days CPU's as general are old and outdated why do you think AMD and INTEL are moving to a platform where the CPU and GPU are combined? The GPU can do much more calculations that a CPU can.

As for the lame vista DX10 debate you don't think it was good to have the windows shell/gui to render parts on your GFX card instead of your old CPU?

Tessellation will not drop FPS that drastic if it's implemented right and efficient.

As for multi-core rendering everybody is referring to the CPU people are forgetting that we are talking about multi-core rendering on your GPU so all those stream-processors and cuda-cores can do allot of the work that would have normally done on your slow CPU.

Both the nvidia and AMD new generation of cards have their separate stream/cuda cores for the tessellation something nvidia was further in developed than AMD (they did set thing straight with the newer 6xxx generation of cards.

So again if the DX11 patch makes Crysis 2 run like **** you should blame CryTEK not the DX api or the GFX card is running on (if you have a new generation DX11 card)

And you can call me what ever you want, but it seems to me you're the one that needs to do some reading about the DX11 API and the DX11 generation of GFX cards.

@KillerSneak, I don't know if you're right, but I just hope you are.

Now all we have to do is to wait until november for this patch.

Now all we have to do is to wait until november for this patch. If it really does take this long I won't be replaying Crysis 2 - Dx11 at all. For me it has to be released about 2 months before Battlefield 3 that does ship with DX11 out of the box as it should. If I have BF3 installed it's not like I will be playing Crysis 2 that much anymore.

Crytek would be digging its own grave if the release is due for November.

I want teasers: give us screens, videos, information, something. There must be something they can show us!

Of course it is, don't worry.

However, Crytek does like leaving us in the dark (apparently) and for some reason they give no updates on their progress whatsoever which is actually inconvenient for them because most people just don't have any more patience.

Yes, they should give us teasers, screenshots or at least a wall of text explaining what they're doing or what they will give us the pc users with the patches to come.

I mean, come on, I'm not hating on Crytek or anything, but posting some screenshots isn't hard.

any news on DX11 in Crysis 2, put some information on how you patch, if it is long or short, and some pictures would be welcome.

The best part will be the large percentage of people screaming for DX11 that will repost after that patch saying "Why won't my system run DX11?.....I want a patch....".....lol You know there's gonna be posts like that....haha

I hope that Crytek will make this game run like the old Crysis, otherwise I will have no reason to upgrade!

Crysis 1 was the reason I spent the last 4yrs buying the latest hardware, to get the maximum graphics out of the game.
Now 4yrs on I can play the game maxed out with added HD texture pack + Silent foliage pack, 16xQAA, and my custom ultra config @ 60FPS avg.

There are still no games on the current market, that looks better than Crysis 1! Why?.....Consoles and their 5yr old tech is holding us PC gamers back.
Dam! if a console had a GTX 580 in bedded in it, we would be seeing some serious eyecandy from developers!
Not this crap low resolution textures!!

Textures notwithstanding, which for the most part aren't a major factor; Crysis 2 is worlds better visually than Crysis 1

It's more streamlined... actually pretty fun to play on a 360 controller, but kb/mouse still the best. What it's missing that Crysis 1 had: OPEN WORLD environments. The game was still pretty linear, but the levels of the game were HUGE, and there were so many places you could go, it was unbelievable. No way that type of game could work on a console, and still have great graphics/smooth performance.

Gotta face it: C2 was made for consoles. :( Doesn't mean it's a BAD game, though.

So everyone is saying the "NON-TWEAKED" and "NO RETEXTURES" settings used in crysis 1 look better than 2?

thats true, the visuals.. or should i say the renderer is way better, the lighting im talking about

but the thing was with the 1st Crysis game is that everything was so much alive, the trees and the animals (i loved picking up chickens and throwing them XD) and lets not forget the destructible environment!

Crysis 2 runs better, the problem is not the engine, but the design, if that makes sense.. XD
the game feels like a port.. cuz it is :( with the simplfied controls and all that

every game now is PORTED to PC, just look at every game demos, battlefield 3 and Rage and bioshock infinite, YOU KNOW that the guy whos playing is using a gamepad :P

i dont have a real problem with that, it makes sense to do it that way, design it on a console then port it to PC instead of the other way.. im just waiting for THE PC GAME XD there was none i think since Crysis 1 :(
