DX11 Ultra/Extreme vs DX9 question

Post » Sun Aug 28, 2011 1:54 pm

While tesselation and POM for example require the Objects setting to be in Ultra to be turned on at all, what do I gain in DX11 if I'm running the Extreme choice on all of them? Does running DX11 has it's own features regarldess of choice of settings, or can I only gain all that eye candy from the Ultra settings?

Basically I'm kind of asking if running DX11 in Extreme settings is the same as DX9 on the same settings or Ultra. I'm asking this because while I can run all of them in DX11 Ultra settings while remaining playable, it's far from optimal and I need my 50-60+ fps. However I'm afraid that simply turning everything to Extreme will cost me a lot of DX11 features like real time local reflections, shadows with variable penumbra, better motion blur, etc.

What are your system specs?
And from what i know alot of the dx11 features work only when
graphic settings are set to ultra , i don't know if all of them need to be ,
but i'm guessing most of them need ultra.

did you try to turn of v-sync?

i5 2500k at 3.3Ghz
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
GTX 560 ti

I'm getting the performance I should be getting anyway. Most of the time I'm at a semi-smooth 40ish frames at 1440x900, everything on Ultra. I'm just that picky about good framerates, a solid 60fps+ conveys a better experience than 30s-40s with all the eye candy the game has.

Just wanted to know if there's much difference down from Ultra to Extreme, but it does look like that's the case that I need Ultra to enable nearly all DX11 features, wich svcks. I'd like to know what options influence what, found out that the real time reflections are dependent on the Shader setting, need the rest and need to know what other DX11 features are still enabled even without Ultras...

Is this for single player or multi? Because MP doesn't enable the DX11 features and etc
