So eager to play Skyrim that I reinstalled Oblivion/Morrowin

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 11:14 am

I couldn't bare the wait any longer. I reinstalled Oblivion and modded it like a crazy maniac (9 gig of freaking mods for a 4 gig game) and started a new game. Oooohh, sweet, sweet, it made my waiting sooo much easier. Heck, I just noticed that Skyrim's E3 show is in 3 days!

I've been playing Oblivion pretty regularly since it was released and I probably will continue to do so right up until Skyrim is released. I haven't played Morrowind in more than a year so I might install it again and dive back in.

i've had them all installed forever in various states of dress, though Skyrim did wind up making me check out MGE XE to get shadows in Morrowind. it's such a subtle difference but it feels so good.

actually, Skyrim did a weird silly thing that not even Dragon Age managed to do and made me get back into Icewind Dale (which in turn got me back into Baldur's Gate (which is making me feel like i should finally svck it up and give Torment a shot (despite owning it for years, i've never once installed it))). easily my favorite Infinity Engine series and the best thing Black Isle/Obsidian have ever done.

everything i love about it, and everything i felt it was missing, seems to be in Skyrim, and that more than it being an Elder Scrolls game is what makes me excited about Skyrim.

Nehrim, dude.
Seriously.
It'll take you through Skyrim to finish it, and it's worth every minute.

I was actually in the middle of playing Oblivion when I heard that Skyrim was announced. I've had Morrowind and Oblivion installed on my computer for a very, very long time. I did go back and play Redguard and Daggerfall though. I also have Battlespire waiting for me.

I picked up an Oblivion character that I only did half the MQ and FG quests and finished those along with the KotN and part of SI before making a new stealth character. Sort of got bored after about 20 hours though.

I'm looking to get back into Morrowind, though I've played that game probably 600+ hours since it's release. I want to make an interesting character and pick it back up. Any suggestions? I always make pure warriors or pure mages.

After seeing how Skyrim is comparing to OB, I thought I could never go back. But I still do.

I reinstalled both of them but I just can't seem to get into oblivion at all anymore, maybe I played it too much. Morrowind with the overhaul is awesome though.

I also agree on Nehrim. Download it now if you haven't played it yet. Best mod ever, better experience playing it than I had playing Oblivion.

Oblivion and Daggerfall are still installed and I am never uninstalling them.

I've put too much time into both games to do such a thing. I should be getting to Morrowind soon. . .

Uninstall? No. Give the game one last thorough playthrough without any mods? Of course.

Same here - and this says way too much about the state of RPGs lately!

Well, I did reinstall Morrowind just after Christmas with a full slew of graphical and gameplay mods, plus MGE, and had an absolute blast playing it through again. Played as a mage character, which I'd never done before. Main Quest + Mages + Telvanni + Temple. Had a real blast with it.

I'm probably done with that none, and plan to build a modded Oblivion to play over the Summer. There's quite a few quest mods that i've never played or never finished. I also don't think I ever did finish Knights of the Nine.

That should take me through into the Autumn :hubbahubba:
