Early release chances?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 12:26 pm

Since amazon has been sending out copies of the game already and people are already able to play the game it seems on console at least, what are the chances of us getting an early release? The Witcher was given out a day early in many places and seeing as its not fair the rest of us have to wait, i think a prerelease is in order, whos with me?!

Doubt it will happen, since all the promo and such is geared for the 10th.

It actually takes a lot of logistics work just to get everything out to every store by the same time (I've spent the past 15 years working in warehouse and logistics jobs - I've got some sense of what it takes to get a product like this out and ready for a world-wide release. It's not easy.) Not every store is necessarily "ready to sell," and not all servers are necessarily ready to take on the load involved. Not to mention all the stores that have special events and sales that hinge on releasing the game at a certain date.

And as a publisher, Bethesda has individual deals with every single retailer carrying the game. Like, contracts and such.

There would be a lot of hoops to jump through for Bethesda to just say "okay, everyone can play now." That would leave certain retailers in the dust, and just because Bethesda hypothetically gives the okay, doesn't mean that the retailers would be able to comply as quickly.

The 10th is almost here - I'm pretty sure the world isn't going to end in the next six days, it'll be okay. ;)

Rumor only. No one has confirmed that. Majority of the leaks out there are evaluation copies.

Let me remember the last time a game was released before the release date...

...

...

Nope, sorry. I never ever heard of such a thing. I doubt I ever will.

I called today to three little shops of videogames near my neighborhood, two of them answered they are receiving the games this friday, since that moment they will be selling it. Obviously, not giving a receipt. However i have reserved it at a big department than only sells the game from tuesday. I can wait just a few days, so i save some money. Hype is growing.

They won't.

The main reason is that they have deals with brick and mortar stores, if they simply allow people on digital to unlock it early it will piss off the brick and mortar stores that still sell their games.

I've been playing for some time now. The plot is that you are a teenager whose dad decided to leave the vault, which had the overseer wanting your head. Wait a second. That's Fallout 3. Never mind!

Not possible even steam would be caught with there pants down if they suddenly green lit the game the shear logistics involved in a Worldwide release prevent this from happening.

Am I wrong in recalling that skyrim ended up being released early on steam the eve of the launch date? the 10th rather than the 11th?

This is correct, well in Australia it was anyway. A major retailer broke street date, someone posted the receipt on Whirlpool forums/Twitter and then the embargo was lifted the day before. In Australia that's all we need for the game to be released early.

Yeah, Fallout 4 is the opposite one. "I'm looking for my son. Short, [censored] a lot, can't walk, maybe you've seen him?" :teehee:

But yes, like said, it has never happened, no reason to believe it will now.

Clearly, you don't have much experience in searching the web...

Over the next 6 days, a super volcano is going to erupt, a three mile wide asteroid is going to hit, we will get fried by a gamma ray burst, a world wide pandemic is going to occur, WWIII will take place, we will be invaded by some intelligent cabbages from Tau Ceti and Kim Kardashian will announce that Justin Bieber is the father of her baby.

Amazon isn't exactly sending them in that sense. They've already shipped out the games to carriers' local offices, meaning your copy of the game is sitting at the nearest UPS or Fedex with instructions not to send them out for delivery until 11/10.

Depends on your location in relation to the time zone of the set release time.
