Early unfinished version of Crysis 2 appears on Torrent site

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:29 pm

Hopefully this doesn't disrupt the release of the game, there's not much that can be done once the genie has been released from the bottle.

Out of simple respect for Crytek you people who illegally downloaded the beta version should not be talking about it at all on here!

It amazes me how dumb people are uploading videos of it Youtube.

They are showing proof of breaking the law.

I don't see the problem here.

The main part of Crysis 2 is it's online multiplayer. If it's good people will have to buy it anyway.

This beta will not damage the sales (not one frickin' bit) as long as the PC demo will demonstrate how good the multiplayer part is.

Pre-ordering mine tonight at Game Stop! ( I like having a disk. ;) )

Common guys! Go!

Papytendo,, I know, right?? I think the gene-pool needs cleaning. ;)

Milch, I think you don't understand the scope of piracy. Not to mention the crazy stuff the industry has done to keep this kinda crap from happening. One reason we're seeing PC games vanish.

You people need to grow a pair. This isn't going to effect sales any, if anything its a huge PC buff so people will buy it. Yeah I have it, I downloaded it and you know what? It made me switch from just the standard edition to the Nano edition thats how good it is. So all of you kids can rant and shake your fist at us PC users and tell us all we're pirates but the fact of the matter is its a demo. Not to mention not everyone can play it because it freezes a lot for some.

I'm a loyal Crytek fan, I stand by this company, they're getting my money because they straight up deserve it. But at the same time, if I see an opportunity like this I'm not going to hesitate. Yes, its a shame but its life. In a few weeks it will probably be accidently released for consoles as well so you can point your fingers at each other because its not just people who fancy PC gaming.

Grow up.

Wow, to anyone buying it who admits downloading it just to try it out... that's still low. It's not as bad, but it still shows a bit of disrespect for the team. I'm not perfect, but downloading an unfinished version of a game still in development is a complete affront to the development team. I can't believe those people who did download it didn't even wait to post videos. I'm still on track to buy the PS3 version as long as it makes the grade we've been hoping for.

As far as sales numbers go, I'm sure it won't even affect it in the slightest. All the people who were going to pirate it are still going to pirate it, and all those aiming to purchase it are going to purchase it. At least people might finally see why they had to bring it to consoles.

The best anti-piracy-measure a developer can take is creating a good multiplayer. The MP is what most people will be buying the game for.

And you can't play online with a ripped version which means that this illegal beta won't do anything other than make PC gamers happy.

Games like Fallout: New Vegas on the other hand are a completely different story (and a sad one at that).

It's as simple as that.

First off...Fix'd secondly, are you 12? Every major release gets "pirated" some way some how. Get used to it, we're in an era where everything is shared via the internet through servers that are guaranteed secure but never are. If you had 1/10 of the "business sense" you're telling me to get you'd know that already. So why don't you take your silly words and shove them straight up your ass.

K?

Crytek I want you to know that the majority of PC gamers are like myself and will buy the game when it is released officially. I have already preordered the game and haven't even looked at any of the youtube videos that has been uploaded, which i think have thankfully been taken down already. It's a shame that this happened but I believe very few individuals are that pathetic that they would download the unfinished version of the game. Most of us are decent hardworking people who will end up buying the game like a REAL gamer on March 22nd.

To me, this is great news, Early bug testing (From honest people) etc. Bad obviously because pirates will be all over this! Im getting the vibe that people think its awesome on multiple websites! I say support crytek as alot of time and work has been poured into this and it would be a shame if it went downhill from here on out! Hell im grabbing my PS3/PC copy at launch!

No way inhell that I'm going to download some unfinished pirated version, but
I'd still like to try out that PC multiplayer demo very much.
It's sad to hear that there already is a pirated version out but I'm quite sure like the others said that it won't really hurt sales.

Can I just say...as much as I hate this...I wish you(alongside with other PC developers) would stop the whinging and calling the PC platform being hurt...Do you see Blizzard complaining about Starcraft 2 getting pirated? Starcraft and Black ops were the most pirated games...do you see them complaining?
Or activision? Seriously...we all know piracy is as bad on consoles as it is on PC. Idk whether you heard or not but the ps3 just got flashed...and the 360 has had a HUGE number of wankers who pirate the game...Please stop this...it's annoying.

And this seems hard to believe how a game has gotten "leaked". Sounds like it's done on purpose.

I think Crysis 3 will be console exclusive and that, it will be the launch title for the next generation of consoles.

Those idiots who pirated this game are morons...they have an unfinished title...good luck playing that.

Hey guys!

We really appreciate the support from many of you who are just as disappointed from this incident as we are. One main point i'd like to make is that this is an old, buggy, unfinished build and does in no way represent the quality of the final game. By playing this you are only spoiling the experience for yourself. Many people are justifying this piracy as a way to 'check if the game will run' on their systems well there's two points i'd like to raise there; 1) there is a PC demo coming that is designed to do just that and 2) it's an old build and again, does not represent final quality/performance.

As we take a firm stance on piracy, i must remind you all that anyone advocating or admitting to piracy will be dealt with swiftly and harshly. Those of you that have shown restraint, thank you. Again, we really appreciate the support and one way you guys can truly support Crytek is by pre-ordering (not a sales pitch, just general fact) the game.

Cheers.

Did you find out the source of the leak? Was it hackers or...someone inside Crytek? Just curious that's all.

I only want to play Crysis 2 at the highest settings (or whatever I can run), so even if I was interested in downloading it (which I am not), medium settings would not serve the game its proper glory.

As for the master key getting leaked, while frustrating, I'm guessing that can be changed given the remaining time frame between now and release.

I hope you don't consider people who actually think an old beta build would represent the quality of the final game to be in your target group. That would be a real downer.
