Early unfinished version of Crysis 2 appears on Torrent site

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 11:07 pm

They leaked the master key!!!???

Yeah, apparently it worked with multiplayer and everything.

I'm not really sure on how the keys work, but it seems to me like they could just change it

Fortunately the torrent is found on only a few websites! Yay!
The bad news is that one of them (the most popular) is Hosted from the Ukraine, so Germany and the US can't do **** about it :(. They can however download the torrent themselves and prosecute those who have I.P's from vulnerable countries.

I would suggest making a press release to alert everyone that this is not a final build etc.
Just making a Post on the forums is not enough.
... Then again a press release could alert more people of the torrent...

I will not be downloading it because I don't want to spoil the epic campaign for myself. And, one of the main reasons I will be buying Crysis 2 is for the multiplayer.

But please.. PC DEMO COMEON!!!

For some reason I was banned for a little while, if someone could explain why that'd be wonderful. Aside from that, I'll make sure to watch what I say and not in any way, shape, or form advocate piracy. I completely don't agree with pirating this game. I'll also not ask for info from those who have pirated the game...that was probably why I was banned.

I woke up to see this sad news V_v.... Shame on those who leaked it out. Crytek and EA are the best game companies in my Opinion and they deserve much better from us, the consumers..... They put in a lot of effect and creativity into this amazing game for US!! I just don't get why anyone would want to harm the company like that. I am disappointed in those who downloaded the leaked copy and especially those who uploaded the youtube videos.... This illegal copy will ruin ur crysis experience and will spoil the story for you since it will have lots of bugs in it.... Stay loyal and fight the temptation people =D!!! Only a month away until release, and the PC demo will be coming out sooner than we think.

Hey guys!

We really appreciate the support from many of you who are just as disappointed from this incident as we are. One main point i'd like to make is that this is an old, buggy, unfinished build and does in no way represent the quality of the final game. By playing this you are only spoiling the experience for yourself. Many people are justifying this piracy as a way to 'check if the game will run' on their systems well there's two points i'd like to raise there; 1) there is a PC demo coming that is designed to do just that and 2) it's an old build and again, does not represent final quality/performance.

As we take a firm stance on piracy, i must remind you all that anyone advocating or admitting to piracy will be dealt with swiftly and harshly. Those of you that have shown restraint, thank you. Again, we really appreciate the support and one way you guys can truly support Crytek is by pre-ordering (not a sales pitch, just general fact) the game.

Cheers.

Hey man.

I'm definitely not gonna download it, gonna wait for the real experience and support you guys. Since it's an early beta build though, it begs the question whether this leak was from inside your own dev studio?

At any rate, it's cool to see a fellow Australian who is a Crytek staff member!

Without a demo, I'll opt for the final build download as one instead.

Give us a demo or we get one ourselves. Seriously, how can products be sold without allowing a trial, test, or sample of it?

I've been ripped off so many times by seriously poor PC game releases over the past decade that had no demo.

Ripping off gamers hurts the industry too OP.

Well I pre-ordered the nano edition last week for the pc, so you're getting my money :) Crytek you have my full support. please let us know if we can help in anyway what so ever.

I really hope this doesn't come crashing down on us pc users.

Do you think it worth paying 50 dlls or more for a game focused on consoles?

Those who already dropped the beta (not me) are saying that it feels like the first Crysis, that one he can not knock chest on the ground and that there is minimum graphic options ... so it's a game made for consoles and ported to the PC.
As a fan I am of Crysis I sincerely hope that the final game is much better than being viewed with the leaked beta, otherwise I will buy it only when in strong price cut (15-20dlls maximum).

Really sorry to see this happen to such a great game and company. You guys have some serious dedication constantly working on the game and replying to your community. Some serious bond here we got and I for one am not gonna let some piracy idiots ruin that. I'm not gonna lie its really tempting and I just can't wait to see the final game so I wish you all the best and just keep your head up. And ppl really just buy the game and most of us have waited for years will another month really kill us?

I'm disappointed by the fact that, once more, you're blaming piracy. When quite clearly, this is a leak. By your own employees. People are just curious. People just want to know what it looks like. It's not piracy in that sense at all.

Crytek, this is your own mistake, you absolutely cannot blame the entire PC community for being pirating jerks just because your guy screwed up. No. And it's quite disheartening to see that this is the case.

I guess I was unbanned for some reason...suppose I'll leave it alone. (I know you're going through a hard time Crytek, what with ***holes pirating your game, but now isn't the time to be taking it out on your loyal fanbase.) Hope it works out for you guys, I really want to see this game succeed.

I heard that Crytek has had some bad employee issues over the last few months... I can see a good reason for an ex. employee leaking out the Crysis 2 beta to some hacker.

FYI: This will not hurt Crysis 2 sales at all. Anybody that knows how to mount an iso image and pirate this will clearly know that its a beta game, it will be no different than the demo that'll be coming out soon anyway. The thing is that piracy does not equal lost sales, that is a high myth that companies like to publisize to exert greater control over their games. Just look at great programs like PhotoShop or Sony Vegas, those get pirated all the freaking time and have actually BOOSTED sales. The only way piracy has negatively affected any industry is the music industry, but that is because nobody with half a brain doesnt has the respect to pay off some 5 man studio's get rich quick scheme by paying money for 3 minute songs, when the real talent themselves makes the money playing concerts.

Piracy is just as bad on the Consoles also. I cant stand these companies that use piracy as an excuse to exert control over the game, which just leads to more piracy anyway. Its a losing battle for companies and its just a fact they have to face. Heck, Cevat cited "piracy" as the reason for "poor" sales of Crysis as an excuse to move towards console development. The industry lookout on piracy is quite pathetic in the gaming industry when other industries like design actually have noted the clear benefits it can have.

You clearly understand little of piracy and its affect on profit. Here's a simple example: Infinity Ward & Treyarch's CoD games were pirated by hundreds of thousands of people. Yet they still sold millions and made multi-millions of dollars.

I said I want a demo, I did not say I want to pirate games. It is their choice.

Okay, good for you ... hopefully do not take a nasty surprise.

I just say to pay that amount of money for a game focused on consoles, it seems crazy.

pd: and is not crying, just that I feel disappointed in what has become this great saga.

Why cant they just take down the whole torrent website? I mean if it's illegal why are they up there?? they should be taken down they ruin the fun for everything..it's such a disrespect to the people behind the scenes that are making this game because it's not easy it's all hard work and we all know they have been working on this game over 2 years now...not happy about this.but then again we can't come into your pc's and leak that thing out it's one of your employees leaking it out to the torrentz...not our fault.

Hopefully the torrent doesn't become my demo for the game Crytek, though apparently all the no prone, context lean, and no weapon modding on-the-fly is telling PC players to **** off anyways so what does it matter anymore?

From what I've seen, Crysis 1 is still better. Consoles destroyed this game.

No problem guys. I'm sure because of how epic this game looks that it will do very well even if a few punks do illegally download it. Just don't let this change your view of the PC community because the VAST majority of us will preorder the game or buy it on day one. I mean come on, this is Crysis we're talking about :)
