Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 6:16 am

And I think thaaat

At head of Crytek office there was fight between owners and producers of game, about exclusive Demo for xbox (it was exclusive right?) and they leaked on purpose the copy for PC to piss em off and prove that they wont tolerate exclusive rights and bla bla bla Crysis is for every1

Well thats what at least I want to believe in. What really happen we would need to w8 for official info. :)

they should answer whether its a marketing ploy or not

"theres a torrent file out there to have"
"is this a marketing ploy?"
"we're deeply dissappointed"
"is this a marketing ploy?"
"we've put blood sweet 'n tears into this game. what do you think?"
"is this a marketing ploy?"
---
"is this a marketing ploy?"
I don't think it's a PR stunt, unless it's a PR stunt gone wrong, or a trap to stop PC development period.

What kind of dumbass would think stopping PC gaming will stop hacking games. Assuming PC piracy really is the great evil it's made out to be then all that will happen is the hackers turn their attention to console and the PC pirates will pirate console games and encourage all their buddies to do the same by literally giving them hacked copies of console games.

It's like when a the only hardcoe gym closed in my local area closed and all the steroid users went into the mainstream gyms... For a while it was the steroid capital of the UK because all these mainstream fitness guys were suddenly seeing the benefits of the drugs and suddenly had easy access to them through these people. But steroid use is dropping again since the bodybuilding gym re-opened after 2 years.

I think theres a fear in the crysis pc community that they're looking for an excuse to get out of the pc market.

I will never download the pirate copy.
1. because its illegal and secondly because quite frankly it looks far worse than the final build.
theres no place on earth where its illegal to download a product, misty mith, now if i was to sell the product on and make money thousands of pounds from it, well, then they would have to prove it. so to use it as a test to find out weather i'd like to buy the product, is saving the company money from the cost of promoting it, so if i was the torrent site i'd be sending them a invoice, of what they owe the torrent site, in promoting there product, LOL, I ad a good upbringing my perents tought me to share and not to be selfish, and give, with a good heart, so it says alot about the attuide of a few, and also personally would not hurt now one over somthing of nought , LOL

I remember how a company in the UK was employed by Atari for mass litigations against "pirates". That was on Watchdog (a TV show about consumer rights) in the UK because among other things they threatened to take an 87 year old couple to court for trying to download Turbo Outrun onto their printer/internet fax or some BS LOL (they [Watchdog] had IT experts look at a lot of different defendants hardware and found no trace of the downloads). Whole thing was an Epic fail because the public got the very distinct impression that they were just litigating people at random and trying to rob the public.

Atari dropped it, almost instantly after that and I think they also changed their lawyers, whole thing was a mess. But it must be illegal because one lady who didn't turn up to court got hit with a 6000 pound fine.

Further I'm sure the Torrent site is already very happy to be getting lots of hits it isn't about to be sending Crytek a bill.

To be honest it probably seemed to everybody who saw the TV show that these legal eagles tried to invent additional piracy to get more future business.
it still does not anwser anything, it still a misty mith, lol yes i think the few have tried a lot of crafty tactics and still are, business is like a spoilt child, they always like there own way , lol no matter how it hurts poeple, like i say its the attuide of a few , my upbringing was a good upbringing , lol

Yeah that might be good for Crytek individually in the future. But now is not the right time for them because if they drop PC before new consoles come out they loose their reputation for being cutting edge. They even said about console no more juice is coming out of this rock, all that can happen now is that developers who are traditionally weaker tech wise catch up to the leaders and the playing field evens out.

That would be death for Crytek IMO.

They should wait for new consoles plus the old ones are already hacked anyway. Piracy on console will only get worse until they release new ones PS3 especially. But my feeling is piracy on PC is getting more of a stigma and actually reducing.

I think that the leak had a reverse effect i means that the pre order increased a lot and as you can see not so much people downloaded the game.

If Crytek leaves the pc community after all this wave of support then be it and we'll all know that it was an excuse.

And for all those console fan boy who are talk **** about pc gamers saying that they're bunch of pirates... There are leaks and piracy on consoles too. The last like was 2days ago and it was KILLZONE 3.

I think that HUGE spike is after **THEY** announced it

where as the small increase just before the huge spike was just rumors and people talking

It's a shame that they have to use piracy as an escape goat for their own lack of security protocols for the leak, and there is no proof that Crytek’s servers were hacked. It’s also not uncommon for the Dev studios purposely leak things just to drive up the hype just before official release. So in the end even Crytek is even hurting the future of the pc gaming by their statement.

I think they don't give us a demo, because the game isn't finished, polished 100%. So a demo isn't that easy to create.

Unauthorized use of Crysis 2 IP software is illegal, nobody, other than EA/Crytek internal staff can give permission to use or test the Intellectual Properties of Crysis 2. Taking and using something that does not belong to you and without permissiom is classed as theft, which is a criminal offence. This is something your parents should of educated you on.

its a big juggling battle and until they say more (i.e. answer questions) like did you know the leak was going to happen I don't feel comfortable playing the leak. If enough time passes however and they still have not said anything then I'll just read the writing on the wall and see the megaphone announcement of a crysis torrent file as intentional.

I reckon teaching your kids proper grammar is more important than teaching them stupid, selfish ideals and greed.

To my mind leaking the game on the torrents - it's not scary. If Crytek give to try demo for pc - I'll buy the game...

P.S. Sorry for my English - this is not my native language :)

Google Trends: "Crysis 2 torrent"
Image

That big spike happened after they announced it.

It seems VERY plausible that it was intentionally leaked - at the very start of it all many of us saw this statistic happening before it was recorded and have been asking "what gives"

no replies.

Thanks to the Hackers, Games will get more expensive and Developers will stop spending a lot of money to make awesome games such as Crysis 2. And Developer will require people to have a Internet Connection to see if the games is not pirated.

Well, anyone that liked Wars, isn't going to like this anyway. Its a total XBox Port, COD game, with console controls. Its good the leak happened so now we know what were getting. And I'm not getting it. Maybe one day, they"ll give us PC players a real C2.

After seeing the leak, it seems to me Crytek already has.

Thats already been implemented in the latest StarForce.

if crytek want players to use this beta of Crysis 2 they must close any support of their network and future updates must be not for beta only for final version and key must be activated via network
