Why cant they just take down the whole torrent website? I mean if it's illegal why are they up there?? they should be taken down they ruin the fun for everything..it's such a disrespect to the people behind the scenes that are making this game because it's not easy it's all hard work and we all know they have been working on this game over 2 years now...not happy about this.but then again we can't come into your pc's and leak that thing out it's one of your employees leaking it out to the torrentz...not our fault.
Taking down an entire website is insansely hard.... Just look at wikileaks. Hosts can easily move domains from country to country to avoid getting taken down. I think that piratebay actually operates from South Africa or something to avoid a lawsuit. Taking down websites is essentially impossible, but it is possible to find the hosts of the torrent and EA will most likely file a lawsuit against the hackers (if they find them). Once anything hits the web it cannot be taken down... This beta will forever be on the internet even if it is "taken off" from the exterior. A direct link with IP address or cache easily fixes that issue, as well as the dozens of seeds the beta already has. Once its up, its impossible to take down completely.
This is Crytek's own fault for keeping a loose lip on their employees, of which they have had several leave over the last few months. The fact that an employee managed to get an entire game on a USB stick and have hack-team crack the obviously (and always) incompetent DRM over a month before release is honestly hilarious. They cannot blame anyone downloading this beta as it most likely consists of fans eager to try the game. Anybody that knows how to mount an iso will clearly know that it is a beta and will contain bugs. This will not hurt sales at all, and companies trying to demonstrate that have failed again and again.
If anything, this should teach Crytek to keep a tighter leap on their own employees in the future and to not include intrusive incompetent DRM in the future which only affects its legal customers.
