Early unfinished version of Crysis 2 appears on Torrent site

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:16 pm

Crytek has been alerted that an early, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and playing the final, polished game on March 22.

Crysis 2 is still in development, and the team is hard at work on it and Crysis 2 promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion.

Piracy continues to damage the PC development community.

Why did Crysis 2 had to get leaked out of all games?

Thanks for deleting my topic. What's the difference in what I posted and you posted Cry-Nick? I'm just saying. It's a little irritating. I'm getting the game on Xbox 360 so you don't have to worry about me pirating it.

One sticked official answer is always better than a million threads ranting about the same thing. :P

That's very true. I was just trying to be a loyal community member and I hope they realize that. I wasn't trying to start anything.

Very true. This is very disappointing news. The greed of a few make it worse for all the rest of us.

I agree, as a pc gamer I am very scared for the future of pc gaming... I really hope Crytek won't turn their back on us, afterall, we shouldn't all be penalized for it.

I know this is a really bad thing, yet its really not so different from the past crysis games. In fact, just about every pc game out there is piratable, the only difference in this is that it was leaked 50 days early. Those who were going to download illegally were probably going to pirate it after it came out anyways. It is just more noticeable now. Hopefully it will only encourage people to buy it after discovering its awesomeness.

No matter what you do piracy will exist. It's not just on PC anymore either. The PS3 right now is extremely easy to play backups on, which then can just be downloaded games. The best way to get around it is to just continue making great games.

I'm pretty sure this will not hurt the sales of the end product, and will most likely going to hype them, since the game is "conveniently" broken and you can't play on high or very high or DX11.

People are already going crazy in the enthusiast forums saying: "WOW THOSE GRAPHICS ON DX9 MEDIUM?"

Buying a Crysis game for any other reason than the graphics is like buying a battlefield game for the single player.

I see what you did there...

The links are out there, you can't get them removed. If you kill a torrent another will pop up. The files on on megaupload, rapidshare, hotfile and all the other sites already. Nothing EA or Crytek can do.

This is disappointing to see the beta leaked online. I feel sorry for CryTek's dev team to see this news.
However with it only being a marginally incomplete build it doesn't matter for the most part, since it's buggy and unstable.

I will definitely be buying this limited edition on the PC when it's out!

CryTek I support you all the way!

as a lover of the pc platform, this is extremely disappointing and enraging, especially since crytek have actually gone that extra mile to make our version superior to the others.

Getting 'advice' from people who have stolen their game is probably the most infuriating thing for crytek at the moment.

absolutely, since it's an unfinished build.

shame on anyone who would even consider downloading it.
