Post » Sun May 24, 2009 1:22 am

Earthworm Jim HD is currently on track to release on June 9th (upcoming Wednesday) for 800 MP ($10) for the Xbox Live Marketplace.

It will release a month later on other platforms so I guess some time around July 9th for them as well.

And it's live!

I've played a bit of it today, really fun game that holds up and the new additions are great. It seems to be selling well too (going by the Leaderboards), it's around 6,000 now.

Xbox Live gets it a month before everyone so we should see a PSN and PC release in July of this year.

Leaderboards are now at 35k which isn't bad, I do wonder why gamesas/Gameloft didn't try to get it bundled with the Summer of Arcade or a similar promotion, those games sell really well.

I didn't even realize this was being made. Have a lot of great memories playing EWJ when I was a kid. Gonna have to pick this up for the weekend.

I'd recommend it, the redone sprites look great, the platforming is still fun, the new option levels are pretty cool, and the four player co-op (local and over Live) is a nice addition as well.

For $10 you're really getting a lot in my opinion, only svcks that the original emulation can't be unlocked. But I do wish more developers who go down this route when re-releasing games, if not the new graphics/sounds at least new missions, ways to play, etc.

Leaderboards (again, grain of salt) are just over 38k, I think the game will cap out shortly but not before hitting at least 50k on the Leaderboards for XBL. Since it's digital you'll still see an increase though which is a bonus.

Major Nelson hasn't posted the Top 10 Most Played Games on Xbox Live list for nearly a month now which is unfortunate but the game is currently tenth on the top 10 XBLA sellers list.

A leaderboard is basically a ranking that tells you the various scores of people who have played a game, many games have them. Certain games have leaderboards that tell you how many people are listed on it overall which Earthworm Jim HD does.

If trying to look at sales, it isn't entirely accurate since,

- One person can buy the game, but three other people on three different accounts who play the game will be counted.

- Some games count trials on the leaderboard (in other words, people who haven't bought the game but are trying the demo).

They aren't exclusive to the Xbox 360 either, a lot of games have them, even Pinball machines do.
