East Treasures of Vvardenfel

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 5:02 am

Hey Guys.
What are, in your opinion, are the easiest treasures to be found in Morrowind?
These can be anything from an artifact to an Ebony Blade lying around.
Either things you stumble into or items that are far more potent than the trouble to get them may let you think.
In my opinion, the Mentors Ring is one of the easiest treasures in Morrowind.
Its just outside Seyda Neen and can easily be grabbed at level 1.
Of course the Boots of Blinding Speed are easy too and even though the Cuirass of the Savior's Hide is behind a level 100 Lock it's VERY easy to grab compared to its power.
That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there are lots out there.
So yeah, your turn now.
-Christian.

Edit:
East?
-.-
Any Way to fix that typo?

thats the beauty i think, there tons of very valueable items just lying around or easily accessable but you don't know where they are at first

i could post a whole list of artifact locations but wouldn't it be more fun to just go and explore, see what you can find?

imo its a lot better to find something by chance rather than being pointed somewhere, kills the surprise and all

And this is even more beautiful if you're like me: you forget where everything is! Normally I have a splendid memory, but for some reason, I can't remember which treasure is where in Morrowind. I get surprised over and over again! An example:
Spoiler
I think one artifact is in a cave where you go during the main quest. There is a greenish tint in that cave, and it's high and full of high stone pillars. The item is found from one of these pillars. And I think it's a staff. But honestly, I have no idea what staff it is, where this cave is or what is its name, even though I've done the MQ at least twice and found this item at least twice as well...

The easiest treasures for me are those that are "given away" in late faction quests. The Imperial Cult oracle, for example, tells you the locations of many artifacts during the questline. Items with no quests related to them are almost always harder to find. Like Dragonbone Cuirass for example. I think I got very lucky when I accidentally stumbled upon it once maybe two years ago real time.

There are a few items you can pretty much find with following clues the game gives to you. One thing that comes to mind is, check what people at Ebonheart gossip about a stolen item, and follow the lead. There's also a quest to it, but I originally found it without knowing it was a quest item too.

And about only location I can remember is
Spoiler
Ibar-Dad
, a cave that I once searched without a reason. Not that the thing there is among the easiest to find - you should really take your eyes off of the seemingly best loot there is and look around a bit more. I still think that "hideout" is genius. I've seen many posts in these forums along the lines of, "Wow, look what I found in there!", while those people still had really missed the biggest treasure there is.

I need the locations for a future mod project. :-P
But yeah, I had lots of fun finding things, forgetting their locations and finding them in the next playthrough again!

I can usually snatch the Vampiric Ring around level 5-10 which greatly helps me progress through the game. I skipped it this go-around (for now), but that's usually my first go-to high-end item.

One thing I always have at around level 1 is a Daedric weapon. Its walk in a cave, walk out, talk to a guy and get given a weapon of your choice. Easy as pie and you get a decent weapon at the start of the game. Only thing I find is, I need strength enchantments, because it tends to eat into my encumbrance.

Other than that, as mentioned, Mentor's Ring and Boots of Blinding Speed are pretty easy. There's more if you use the expansions.

One of my characters found an ebony short sword buried up to its hilt on one of the hills around Balmora. That was a nice find. Not for that character (he left it there), but still. A random discovery after a couple of years of playing the game. How many games can do that?

I get the things that have already been mentioned. Also Denstagmer's Ring. Theres a Glass Frostsword in a cave under Ebonheart. The Amulet of Shadows is good to get, too.

Theres the sword of white woe up in that balmora guard tower.

And in Suran, too, but they're both closely guarded by ordinators.

I've never heard of the Mentors Ring, I'll have to go check that out.

Oh yea, I usually pick up the Amulet of Shadows pretty early too. That can prove invaluable down the road, especially to a non-stealth based character.

The Amulet of Shadows is but a farcical amalgamation of a primaeval bond, the collective upholstery of the fundamental principle involved. Those scones are firmly attached. Actually, I think I mean sconces.

This is one of the great things about Morrowind. The great treasures that are available to whomever has the nerve and desire to find them at any level. This is what is greatly lacking in Skyrim

I try to only find the ones that would help my character. If I'm an assassin, Mage, knight, etc... Ill go look for the treasures that would help benefit me and something I may come across I may just leave as my character at the moment may havent the need for it

I can only recall the general area for most of the artefacts, only from memory. I remember there was a nice staff in Sheogorad, I think, and there was a good bow in a tomb in the Grazelands. I like how none of the artefacts are quest locked, unlike Oblivion and Skyrim.

Edit: Yay! 1000th post!
