No Easy Access to Forums from Elderscrolls.com!

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 5:49 pm

I was not able to find any way to access the forums from the new skyrim site -- this could be keeping many people from coming here to discuss the upcoming game. Wanted to drop a line and let everyone know - if there is someone who can be contacted at gamesas who could remedy this, let them know!

The problem is not with me getting access to the forums - it's for the dumb masses who are heading to the elder scrolls site and unable to get to any forums. They're not going to put the effort into going to the gamesas site to get to the forums... There would be much more (albeit not necessarily better) discussion here and more activity if they had an easier way in.

And why complain? If you can't figure out to go to google.com and type in "Elder Scrolls Forums", click the appropriate link then, more than likely, we're better off without that person. They shall remain at www.morrowind.com, staring at the screen going "uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh".

Last year google wasn't showing that link. Now it does(manual entry?!), but this forums are still not being indexed. I think this place is truly a secret.

Edit: Thanks Ostrichman.

Maybe we shouldn't be so elitist? Perhaps they're short on time and can't find it by going website to website. I think they should put a link there...

I realized this a few days back too, and they really should start having the old site links up on the teaser page too. Anyone who says "hmph, we would be off much more splendidly without these insolent pigs dirtying our elite sanctum, hmph" is someone who needs to stop using a thesaurus.

Can't you just type in www.gamesas.com? It's not hard to remember.

I noticed this on release. Did not even realize the forums were still functioning until i used my browser history to return.... I dont blame people who may still think the same thing. As arrogant as some of you may be there is nothing unintelligent about going to a games advertised main page, not seeing a forum, then leaving thinking it does not exist.

And you shouldnt characterize people so much.... God knows what "the dumb masses" could say about TES fans. I'm sure some of us may fit the bill too.

I fully agree. I know plenty of great, intelligent people who know next to nothing about computers or the internet; despite their lack of technical skills they could become great additions to any online community. Low accessibility does not benefit anyone and if it stops people, who might be interested in the franchise, from finding information they seek then it's causing severe damage. Then again, as it is now the forum is filled with speculation, contradicting statements and suggestions that might be nearly impossible to implement. Perhaps it is better if the forums are hard to find. At least until we get some official info.

Keep in mind that at some point we were all the "dumb masses"... Regardless of how much/little they contribute to the conversation, or how intelligent the conversation is, on the whole it is raising awareness and interest for the game. Without garnering interest from the lurkers and, admittedly, the kiddies, the game might not be as successful as it could otherwise be. Here's to hoping that a link comes up on the site for the forums soon...

I think he's talking about new members who want to join because of the hype surrounding Skyrim.

To be honest I have no idea how I found this place... or when, for that matter. One day I just found myself here.

But I personally think it should stay like this, there was a flood of new people since Skyrim was announced, and I don't really want more than that.

Since Skyrim was announced we have had over 3500 people joining the forums, whilst they all haven't joined because of the new game a fair percentage will have. That doesn't sound as if it is difficult to navigate to these boards. :)

Thank goodness they all haven't been regular posters.

And a friend of mine, who's new to TES, tried to sign up on the main TES page and accidentally told them she was 12. She's a tad bit older than that -- say half a century -- and now it won't let her on the site at all. :flamethrower:

(If anyone knows how to solve this we'd both be grateful.)
