Easy ways to get caps

Post » Wed Feb 17, 2016 2:00 am

I am new to fallout 4 and am always running out of caps. I know about water purifiers, but I do not have enough materials. Any help would be nice! Thanks.

well, you may produce the drug Jet with easy to find raw materials like plastic & fertilizer.

Produce Jetfuel ( jet and flamer ammo), you earn caps and XP

I wonder how far you are into the game if you don't have the materials for purifiers. If you're not that far yet, I wonder how fast "fast" means since you can get them easily and early by jut looting and selective junk buying.

But here's some other tips:

- pick at least one type of weapon to never use, then sell its ammo whenever you get it.

- never scrap / always sell pre-war money, cigarette packs, cigarette cartons, and anything with gold or silver in the name.

- if you have enough stim packs, sell all food

- try to resolve Drumlin Diner quest peacefully so you have an extra vendor to sell to.

- if you keep your character straight laced, sell all the chems.

- be extremely frugal.

When you get garbage legendary items like a Junkie's Switchblade or something useless like that, all it instead of dropping it. They are usually worth more than standard gear. I usually collect them in a Foot Locker in Sanctuary until Trashcan Carla swings by and use them as collateral when buying from her.

After clearing out a building or campsite make sure to pick up every thing and use dog meat as a pack horse then you can sell and or trade for things like bullets and better armor this early in the game.

If it takes 3 or 4 trips to each site just do it for the long run it helps and pick up every thing.

I have 4 chest that I put every thing in until i need it to sell or scrap for what they have.

Place all junk in the workbench for later use and after you get your settlement fix the way you want it you can use the junk at a new settlement or sell it.

Save up about 500 caps (depending on your Charisma) and buy a shipment of fertilizer from Connie Abernathy. Take that back to Sanctuary and use it to make Jet. Take that Jet back to Connie and use it to trade for the two shipments of fertilizer she stocks. You can repeat this every day or two as she restocks her stores, and when her stock gets limiting, Mr Green at Graygarden also stocks two shipments of fertilizer. You'll have to scavenge plastic to keep this up, but it's easy enough to find.

One caution: Do the math and make sure you're coming out ahead on that Jet for Fertilizer deal. I've never tried it with a really low Charisma, and it's possible you might be losing if you're especially socially awkward.

I have 10 settlements set up with over 200 water production. They I usually pull out over 350 purified waters and can travel the entire Commonwealth and leave them broke. Also the scrounger perk for extra ammo will bankrupt the rest. I never have had to sell legendary or valuable gold (need it to mod settlers weapons). I usually have 50,000 caps and 2,000 pre-war money. The only time I have been broke is after I dump 16 stores in a settlement

Speaking of Pre-War money, has anyone gathered the 5K required to bowl at the bowling alley?

Is that a real thing? Or... WHAT?!

I wonder if that is before you complete the quest there?

Here's the thing - these games (FO3, NV, Oblivion, Skyrim) you always end up ridiculously wealthy, with all kinds of money and nothing to spend it on.
Therefore all the Perks that find you more loot, that find you more caps, that improve your pricing at vendors, are all a waste!
They're short-sighted. You should need perks that help keep you alive; perks that help you kill things.
If you have perks invested in Mercantile and treasure hunting (and let me guess, you have hundreds of stimpaks) you may need to increase the game's difficulty, heheh...

Now, that said, all the Junk I dump into storage in all different settlements etc. contains Pre-War Money.
The game uses it as - get this - cloth.
But it is oh-so-much more...
It's worth a fortune! A whole lot of caps. SELL IT.
Pretty easy to round up maybe 1000 bills from making the rounds to all your Junk storage, right?
So there's ~5000 caps right there.

Fairly straightforward to be Mr. Wasteland Tycoon on Normal difficulty...
But increase to Hard if you would prefer a more realistic and - at times - even challenging game.
A quick note:
Joining the Atom Cats is a real smart move.
Her (Rowdy's) prices are far superior to anyone and everyone else's!
Compare versus your pal Arturo in Diamond city...
Rowdy will sell you expensive things (like power armor frames) for far less.
