In 2276, when nuclear war was on the very edge of happening, President Eden announced over the newly created Enclave Radio Station that he had plans for the nation if, in fact, it happened. He called it " Plan Fallout Reconstruction." It was supposed to cleanse the waters that were irradiated, and let the Enclave rebuild the nation.
But what he didn't tell them that he planned to do the exact opposite. For Eden had created a program, supposedly to wipe out the country's population using his own knowledge and radiation. Enclave scientists started conducting experiments, and were striving to find out where the President's program was. THey could come up with nothing relating to his words, but they had heard that a secret project was conducting down at the south end of the wasteland.
Eden's most trusted advisor, Augustus Autumn striked feear into the hearts of the Enclave, and under him, the government had become stronger. But.... Eden had plans for another young soldier.
When Fallout came in 2277, everything America had known about itself was destroyed. Experiments gone wrong, humans changed to mutants, new creatures were created ? and vaults were opened?
I was flying in a Vertibird, heading from Raven Rock to the D.C. Metropolis ruins, a place called the Jefferson Memorial. We had heard, and learned that this was where Project Purity was taking place, which had gone against everything we had believed in. My parents had run off while I was still young, and the Enclave saved me from the harshness of the Wasteland.
I owe my entire life to the government. We have very harsh training, and most of us died. But I am 17, and still healthy. I was just assigned a mission, though I wasn't leading it. I stared at the other troops. They looked very confident for men just coming out of training.
I looked down and loaded my laser rifle's energy cells. Hmm only given 90, 3 clips; hopefully I wouldn't need more. I'm lucky I got even that much. You would think being Autumn's nephew would be a breeze in the Enclave. Well you thought [censored] wrong. He hates me with all his heart. His only goal was to use the Enclave to gain in his own personal benefit.
As the plane passed over Fort Independence, the damned Outcasts tried to shoot us down, some of the shots hit, while other didn't. One of the turbines exploded after being hit and the plane started to nose dive. Two of the five soldiers jumped out too early. I glanced out the window and saw their bodies hit the hard concrete. Well, no need to describe, they died, painfully. The others did nothing so when the timing was right, I plummeted into the Potomac.
The plane hit the water with a loud splash as I clambered to shore. The pilot was dead, no doubt about it, but the officer and the three highly ranked soldiers made it out. We turned around and we saw the Jefferson Memorial about a mile off. As we made our way, we saw the other Vertibird land outside the facility. We quickly sprinted and joined up with them.
My fabled uncle was with, and said,
" Heard the explosion." As he said this he glared at me,
"These doctors are the biggest [censored] you'll ever meet so we wont have any trouble at all.
So help me if you die on me I will give you the worst possible honor of bravery, so don't [censored] die! Move out!"
Yeah, told you he's an ass.
As we ran to the Gift Shop Entrance, I thought I could see movement in one of the pipes? We quickly dashed in, and made sure that no mutants were on patrol. As I opened the door to the Rotunda, a dark, haired women in a lab coat rushed by me, saying, " Get out get out get out!" I pushed her aside and went to secure the control room. A man was inside, and he was talking into an intercom. " Stay there! The Enclave have infiltrated the building."
As soon as he saw me he ran to the controls. I ran up the steps along with another soldier. He grunted in pain, and then I turned around and saw two scientists with pistols in their hands. I went to pull the trigger on my laser rifle, but they shot it out of my hands. As they advanced, two shot rang, and they dropped. Autumn was there along with a hostage scientist and another soldier.
The man's name was James, and apparently he wanted to purify the waters of the Capitol Wasteland, the exact opposite of President Eden's plan. Our order was to secure the Purifier and destroy it. " So you realize this is everything our government's worked for, and you are trying to take it down," said Autumn, " Give me the code or you're under arrest!" James still refused. At this point, two things happened.
First, the dark haired woman started looking in the window, and now a new figure had appeared beside her, and was watching with interest at James. Then, Autumns pulled out his 10mm and shot the hostage down, as a threat. "All right, no more violence, I'll type the code in," came the reply from James.
Everything went so fast I had no time to see the code. There was an explosion and I felt really weak. James must have typed in the code to radiate the airlock. He must have wanted to keep the Enclave from getting the Purifier, so he killed himself, to destroy Autumns, the only one who knows the secrets of Project Purity besides President Eden; I fell to the ground, along with my comrades.
