Educate people about Brink

I think that games with a stylised art style such as Team Fortress 2 and Brink are more fun for it, rather than attempting to look like reality. It can still have awesome effects and whatnot, but...

It's a game. On a screen. With a HUD. You're using a controller/mouse/keyboard. It's not reality. Don't try and make it seem like that.

IMO, reality in video games offer way more fun than those with none. I don't want to throw teddy bear grenades at noobs. Oh and btw, if brink overflows with cod players, I would'nt get the game. All the tactics would be, HIDE IN A CORNER HURRY. Then they rack up points from kills and claymores...

I checked on ign, Quake Wars got a 6.1 (Xbox 360).

Quake Wars wasn't well done on consoles. I'm not going to lie about that one. It was a post-release port - the game had been completely built for PC from the ground up, then dragged kicking and screaming onto the consoles well after it had established a solid PC player base. They didn't make a very smooth transition for it.

Brink, on the other hand, is being separately built for each platform, with appropriate tweaks to the systems in place to make it as good as it can be for everyone.

And, as posted above, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is available for free now. Try it.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. IGN are noobs when it comes to game reviews. If you trust them, I'm sorry, but I quit doing so after watching a video review which blatantly proved the guy was lying about the game to make it sound worse than it is.

"You can't see the orbs until you're right on top of them, LITERALLY across the street"
*while he's saying this, one of the "orbs" he's talking about is visible several blocks away in his gameplay footage, and he fails spectacularly at picking it up. There is an example a few seconds where he could argue the point, but that's because he's running at right angles to the orb location, and it's behind a wall until he's directly across the street from it*

You do realise that stylised art doesn't mean teddy bear grenades, right... it means stylised graphics of actual grenades, so that the game has a better overall ambience.

Quite a few gamers I know have not heard of Brink till I mentioned it to them, so yeah BRINK will be a slow burner, aka Sleeper hit unless there is some marketing blitz from Bethesda hitting soon.

Ok I see what you mean. But it all depends on a person's opinion. I'm not saying stylized art is crap, but I'd rather hold a real looking grenade that a highly bright one.

You guys are tryin to talk people into buying it lol. Just tell your friends "Its good" or "You HAVE to play it" and they should know they need get a copy of it for themselves.

http://www.splashdamage.com/content/wolfenstein-enemy-territory-barracks is for free.

I'm a have to downlaod this and give it a try.

Nice, but thats not good enough. I need to see more uninterrupted gameplay.

I find that IGN is pretty fair with thier reviews. For the past year I would play a game then compare my thoughts about it to their score and it was almost spot on with what I'd say about it. Eg "Okay, Good, Great, Amazing"

watch this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuzCb_gCvQ0

That video sealed it for me when I saw it back earlier this year. I've been seeing ads for brink for awhile now, but never really knew what it was. When I saw that vid, I was all over it.. Now I;m on the forums, have it 75% paid off, and have almost all the vids favorited on my youtube account.

Have been a long time Battlefield fan so team oriented gameplay has always appealed to me. I did jump on the CoD bandwagon when MW2 came out.. it was the 1st CoD I played since the 1st one ( no not MW1, the actual 1st CoD.. against Nazis...) I enjoyed it for a little while.. but there was absolutely zero lasting appeal.. Prestige is a dumb idea to me.. why on earth would I want to unlock the same stuff 10 times? ..

Anyways... BRINK is going to rock! After watching a lot of the interviews with the devs, and hearing about how much effort and heart they put into this game, I have no doubts... Hell they even pushed the release FORWARD!!! Who does that? Cool people do that's who lol..

Lots of gamers I've talked to know what Brink is and are talking about the game. When I pre-ordered Brink at Gamestop the workers were excited about it. Lot of people are keeping an eye on this title.

Wolfenstein was their first IP?
BRINK is their second?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfenstein_(series).

Not created by Splash Damage.

It's even less theirs than Quake Wars.

Both came to SD via id Software. Wolfenstein had originally been pre-id though.

I tried introducing this game to couple of my friends so I can have someone to play with, but of course, they are all like:
"OMGzz T3H GrAPH1x SUX0RZ!"

I find it sad that even know the developers made a amazing team experience, the masses will wither it down into a free for all mode. id love to think that people could do anything but search for the quickest, easiest kill but i have to be realistic

although you're right about the fact that games generally break down into free-for-all fests, I just don't see how that can happen with brink - it almost forces team-play

"So this game called Brink that I'm looking forward to.." -goes on about all of Brink's features and whatnot-
"Ehh.. I'll stick with Call of Duty."

I know this is going to sound stupid, but when the Tron: Evolution game came out for the 360, during December I started to talk about it, and at one point I was chilling with this group of 9 other people, and figured I'd tell them about it b/c i hadn't said anything to them yet about BRINK.

They were so hyped about it, I put my mic away from my head as far as the chord would let it go and I could still hear their praises lol

Besides then i also have since November of last year been cosplaying The Anger (Heavy) at Anime Conventions in Florida (customizing my cosplay more and more for each con). Hopefully going to be Medium archetype by Florida Anime Experience on May 27th, lol. Besides that, every time i go into a Gamestop i talk to the people behind the counter about it making sure the other people in the store can here me conversing about it w/out being too loud, whenever i can bring it into a videogame conversation me and some friends are talking about, and on Facebook a little.
