This is an interesting video showing the effects of the fallout in the area.

I thought the tree rings were the most telling. They show a marked difference right on the date that the plant blew up.

It is important to note that the study focuses on hot areas, areas of high radioactive contamination, which are not all that common in the Zone, as the contamination is unevenly distributed.

If I'd have to guess that video was propably filmed mostly in the red forest, area which recieved the worst contamination.

The mushroom caught my eye. They tend collect certain elements from soil which include cesium-137, a common fission product. Even here in Finland there are areas where mushrooms still contain significantly increased amounts of radioactive cesium due to the Chernobyl accident. I'm actually surprised that they don't glow in the red forest. :whistling:
